I find it kind of amusing that someone decided that hexagons are proprietary alien tech. Anyone else have other examples?

Also when their shields flare it has a hexagon grid like the bubble shield on Halo 3.

It has something to do with the proper use of space. For example, the cells from a bee hive are hexagonal, because thats the best way to use the very limited space that they have.

A little bit of research should answer that.
