You are not the omniscient end-all of SC2 knowledge. If you really want to pull rank, Island is Gold league 1v1, his Zerg friend I play with is Platinum league 1v1. And both of them will inform you that PvZ was one of the hardest matchups, and that roach/hydra is one of the most effective ways of doing it.

For every patch until now Protoss has been at the harsh end of the balancing stick. Zerg finally gets a nerf that makes sense, from all highest standards, and people like you do nothing but complain about it. It's really quite amusing.

Reducing the HP of a unit that already has unbelievably low HP for it's cost is hardly what I'd call 'making sense'. I mean it's not like the unit WASN'T dying to psi storm and siege tanks and stuff en masse regardless.

Reducing the armor of it's meatshield was probably sufficient.

It's a very specific stat tweak, seemingly arbitrary, and that to me suggests that some attack-to-kill ratio has been changed. IE, maybe before it took a Banshee 5 hits to kill a Hydra, but now takes 4. As for Psi Storm and Tanks -- well, as you said, they died to these things before, it's not really going to change anything. But maybe it will change something in a very specific harass type situation, where every second counts.

In all fairness, I only jump on my high horse to knock off those already on one @Nicol: no harm meant, of course.

I think pure.Wasted hit it on the head, actually. I don't think it's the Banshee, personally, because they just tweaked that unit's HP. It might be tied in with the Void Ray doing more damage now...now Void Rays may actually be a viable strategy even if Zerg go Hydras.

I personally believe that Void Rays were very much a limited unit. They were used to harass buildings and heavy units and that tended to be about it. Now they can actually be used more against Zerg with the Hydra nerf.

Perhaps, at least. That is the scenario I currently see. I'll have to play it some more to find out.

I just logged on to play some more matches... Apparently I'm in Bronze League for some godforsaken reason. Anyway. I got Prushed in 2/3 of my TvP matches. I must be doing something wrong to have 2 marines and 2 marauders when protoss attacks with 6-7 soon to be reinforced zealots...

I'm putting techlab asap after first barracks is built. Should I get 1-2 marines before building it? My base'll be open if so...

Any tips? It's really pissing me off. I might lose some valuable micro from the time my barracks is built 'till I get attacked since it's here where the expanding really takes place.

Anyone?

Oh please. I killed most Protoss's with Muta/Ling, not Roach/Hydra.

Muta/Ling has so many Protoss counters you must have been playing copper league people. Roach/Hydra, on the other hand, in sufficient numbers, in the hands of those who know how to use them...

the hard coutners are sentry / phoenix and canons defensively. over-invest in either and an adaptive zerg will see that, switch - and obtain an advantage.

many protoss relly on stalkers for AA even vs zerg, and ling/muta destroys stalkers in the open - where they'll need to go sooner or later.


i havnt played enough post-patch to see, but ZvP is surely different now - even for those of us who dont use roach n'or hydra in every game... whether it was called for or not, P players where terrified of roaches, or even the possibility of a roach-switch, and seeing the general viability i played with non-roach as standard to abuse that situation. now its changing, and i cant predict where it lands. but im more worried about ZvT than ZvP.
