What is with huge breaks in the first season?

contrary to popular belief, real does not mean deep.

I concur. Often times the petty squabbling between characters in true soaps and dramas are more real than the space opera of Battlestar. Though I only somewhat like the characters of SGU -- actually, I only like Rush and the Wiz Kid, whose name I forgot -- I'd say they're more caricatures than real. And honestly, this isn't always a bad thing. It's usually easier for people to recognize and identify with caricatures than the real thing. This goes for all sorts of media - literature, pictures, sound... But in SGU's case, well, they seem to be missing something.

I was going to say I loved the SGU cast, but then realized I only watched it for Dr Rush.

Characterization was still better in BSG. SGU is too depressing.

To the original post, it's frustrating for me too Maul. I don't mind the wait between seasons but I dislike how there will be weeks here and there (or months) where shows I enjoy aren't on. You literally have to check week to week to see if a show is playing on it's "scheduled" night.

Well, I have to say that I'd take season breaks over season cliffhanger endings any day.

For starters it's a long wait to see what happens - But it's an extra bitch when buying DVD season boxes.

That's the general consensus about the series. Rush is the one redeeming thing in an otherwise depressing series. Unlikable within the context of the series, but to those watching, he's the coolest character the series got.
