Yah but aesthetics are really hard to reach a concensus on. Lets see if we can at least all agree that they need more detail.

I think the void ray looks the worst because they took the original model and just tinted it grey, instead of actually recoloring it. I can almost guarentee its not final. I also dont get why it has to be grey. The Corsair was a Dark Templar ship, and that wasnt grey.
The corsair wasn't designed to be a dark templar ship... they made it into one after having designed it.

The reason it's grey is for flavour. Simple as that. I mean how friggin boring would it be if all the Dark Templar and Khalai ships looked similar from a design standpoint?

I apologize. I thought you were referring to actual render design rather than polygon count.

The thing is Blizzard always reveals shitty stuff, then blows you away. I thought the Zerg looked *okay* until now! They look amazing.

There is always a comparison when I look at Blizzard stuff. When I say, I can do it, then it's not good enough for Blizzard. I've noticed that. For example, the current Protoss Models, I can model them and texture them and light them. But not the Terran ones or Zerg, they are way too professional for my amateur hands.

    One can only wonder.

Fully agreed - BC looked perfectly fine in the orginal WWI announcement vid. - Not sure why they felt the need to put all this extra junk all over it - Not right at all.

I think Gradius said once that it looked like a 'blow-up' version of the BC - Dead-on description.

As for the Carrier, If they absolutely have to go forward with it, I would prefer the BW Carrier -

Can anyone tell me why the Phoenix and Void Ray are different colours, aren't they both meant to be 'Reunified Protoss' ships rather than Khalai/DT vessels?

Gorgeous artwork. Modeling any in-game unit after anything Peter Lee does is sure to please people...the man's got a talent fo' sho. Although striking a balance between aesthetics and polygon count is likely something all the artists need to contend with. Getting the Carrier to look this godly I'm sure is possible, but when you put 20 of them on-screen at once it could hamper framerates.

Still, I'd much rather like to see the Carrier modeled after this yellow beauty instead of the bland Tempest designs below it. It would really speak wonders for the majesty of the noble Protoss.

I may be wrong but aren't those Tempest 'designs' actually just copy+pasted images of the old Tempest in-game model? Notice how their orientations are different from the Carrier in the foreground? Yes, I know there's no gravity in space and so they are free to fly at whatever orientation they want. However, that's (almost) never the way space is portrayed (SC1's videos of space have a fixed up and down).
