I can't believe Blizzard is going to resign to poor polish now that they've gone so far with Terran and Zerg.
I'm talking about the Protoss airforce, namely Phoenix, Void ray, Carrier and Mothership.
If you will compare, the models of Battlecruiser vs Carrier:
Battlecruiser:
Carrier:
You can easily see that BC is a vastly superior model. Without a doubt the carrier needs remodelling. You can even see the polygons making up its main struts.
Voidray model works because it original was a huge model, now resized fits the current higher polygon sets. You can still see a few modeling issues with the polygons in the back being way too angular.
But compare
to something like:
It looks very dated.
Mothership:
Raven:
Although the Mothership's model *may* look better, it is indeed not since it is vastly larger than the Raven. One may surmise since there will only be ONE mothership on the battlefield, they can easily remodel a new mothership model to have 3x that of the raven easily (it's simply 3 ravens on screen)
Phoenix
Viking
Again, the terran models look many times superior to the protoss models. They are much more detailed and have a much cleaner specular map to them.
With the latest batch of damage animations showing the carrier with the animation already in, I am quite afraid that they've resigned to the assumption that the carrier is good enough.
Interestingly, the Protoss is the race with the least units, yet they have the lowest polygon units whilst the Zerg is the race with the largest amount of units on screen and somehow they have the highest polygon units.
I may be a little premature in yelling out this problem, as beta is still a few days to weeks away and the previews we have seen from the latest Korean expos may be already months old. I hope for a better Protoss airforce to contend with the might of the Terran and Zerg.
