For protoss players, here is how you stop banshee harass, and then win (basically, with phoenix).

So I decided to compare one of the replays in my last post to a Nony replay where we both go the same strat, just for fun. Here is what I got:

    Me
    4:30 - 24 supply, 175 army, 21 harvesters
    7:30 - 39 supply, 1100 army, 26 harvesters
    9:00 - 47~ supply, 1975 army, 26 harvesters

    Nony
    4:30 - 27 supply, 350 army, 22 harvesters
    7:30 - 52 supply, 1975 army, 31 harvesters
    9:00 - 64 supply, 2725 army, 34 harvesters

I wonder how he does it. He was on one base too.

im just starting to learn protoss msyelf (would be great fun to play random from top gold into plat!) .. so i might not be terribly insightful when it comes to strategical details

however, i think your general decision-making is sound, or at least quite close to what i would have done in similar situations.

... i hate to tell you this, but i cant give much better advice than "macro better"

for example, it makes sense to make two gateways fairly early, but only if you're actually using them. OK, you might not want a whole lot of zealots before you have charge, and you might hold production slightly to start a tier2 tech building asap, but if you have the money, you want to spend it on units!

it was a good call to pressure the terran and counter expand when seeing his expand, in game one, while leaving a few stalkers behind vs the reapers. but you got outnumered too badly, and the two phoenixes fell JUST short of denying EMP properly.... i felt like your attackw as late; imagine if you'd 'a been mid-map with a proxy pylon + ready and able to move out VERY shortly after you scouted his expansion-attempt!

in the 2nd game, you were wise to go for the attack once you had a counter to the banshee, though IMO you didnt try hard enough to harm the shees before pushing in with the ground, resulting in a somewhat close fight, quickly nullified since you didnt reinforce. (you could also have tried drawing off the marines from the front by harassing mineral-line!)

as mentioned, most importantly common in both games:

; in the earlygame when you only have a few buildings, its CRUCIAL not to stop production. that includes probes! (if your not dead-set on playing on one base for a long time, or doing some dedicated timing push, you'll want to get more than 20 probes. asap.) ... you never want to stop obviously, but later on, especially when some confrontation is approaching - like when you pushed with 3 phoenix + ground vs banshee/marine for example; your tiny ground army stood around, your resources ticking up, everyone just waiting for that 3rd phoenix to pop out.

... spending money on tech and additional production facilities can give the illusion that your keeping up wtih macro, but its really just disguising the problem.. it can be hard to take in, but the important lesson is to make more units, more frequently - aided by Chrono boost,

    - and for convenience & tactical flavour: use a proxy pylon and / or a phase prism to reinforce mid-map (this makes extra sense if you're going light on immortals after getting robo bay, due to scouting ghosts or banshees)

... Personally, Strategically, im trying stargate before Robobay; phoenix can scout well enough and anti-grav is great fun & can give some map ctrl, while also being awesome at disabling ghosts or tanks... but i cant tell if this is "good strategy" or not.

hope you'r taking this the right way.

    Peace.

a bunch of small things add up. I'm not watching any replays but things to consider

    chronoboosts
    mineral count at given points.
idle building time (time not building stuff) (this is a biggie that isn't always apparent, just watch replay, stare at gateways and see how long it isn't doing anything)
    supply blocks
    too many pylons too soon?
    units died?
    scouting time?
when is he making workers, and is he making workers nonstop or halting production from time to time?

when you see the differences, play a custom game (vs ai even) and make adjustments to see how the timing plays out.

It is your harvesters. Think about it, 4:30 mins with approx 1 more harvester lets say for just 1 minute to be fair to you. By using your own calulations = 0.96*(60) = 57.6 minerals more than you for that minute. Given thats what it costed for the harvester not as good but the next formula say = (0.96*5)(60*3) = 864 more minerals than you just in three minutes not including the cost for the harvesters (not including gas as well). The next minute and a half he had 8 more harvesters so = (0.96*8)(60*1.5) = 691. 8 more minerals than you harvested (not including gas or the harvester's cost).

So the final formula = 57.6 + 864 + 691.8 - 400 (for harvesters) (and lets say 250 minerals weren't harvested because of gas) -250 = 963.8 minerals more than you have. That is a lot of minerals. That is about his army count difference in comparasion to yours. So with buildings, upgrades, etc, plain and simple he just out mined you.

Here is a fun little game. PvZ on metalopolis. Basically I defend a baneling bust all game and then use phoenix/void ray to win @ the end.

nice game. many would call banebsuts all-ins that relly much on luck, but that game really goes to show that there is a lot more to a successfully baneling bust than the initial actual bust-through; with enough dedication, almost any early fortification is possible to bust. however, what is done with the left over banes and the lings that get in is immensely important, as is the rate and composition of any reinforcement - or pattern for any transition into higher tech and / or bigger macro. of course, for the opponent - being you - its equally important to face teh busts and their aftermath with the right balance of caution and counter agression. well done!

Just beat a random player on steppes who 7-pooled me. Feels great.

If you're a toss player, what you do is scout at 9 and don't build anything until you see his pool. If it's 3/4 done then make a forge first, some cannons, and then wall yourself in. If he breaks your wall, you should use probes to help out. This replay is actually pretty sloppy on my part, but hey, it works.
