Just a tip, noone expects zerg players to go roaches anymore. I have been playing around with a roach/muta build and it has been working out really well. Most of the builds other players go will be to counter hydras once they see an early lair. What they dont see coming is a mass ball of roaches a few moments later. This works for mid to high plat so idk if it would work as well in higher level play.

Roaches raped me in one of my ZvZ games - my Zerglings and Queen were too weak to fight them off, and if I hadn't had two Spine Crawlers stationed on my ramp for support I would have lost right there. I got a few Hydras out and pushed them back, but it was still a tricky thing. So I guess in ZvZ at least that's their niche - high HP ranged units that arrive at a much lower tier than Hydras and are too tough for Zerglings unless heavily outnumbered.

I'm gonna use Roaches in my next game, see how they perform.

EDIT - ZvZ game, early on I sent Zerglings and Roaches to attack and was met with Hydras and Zerglings. I microed my Roaches to focus fire on the Hydras and ultimately my forces were victorious with heavy losses. The Roaches were crushed when his next wave of units spawned, but in this battle at least Roachling beat Hydraling, and the numbers of the two sides were fairly equal - he had 3-4 Hydras to my 4 Roaches, and we both had a dozen or so Zerglings, maybe I had a few more though.

Question for generic gameplay, how would I go about improving my macro, any tips? That's usually why I end up losing games, I don't produce enough units, don't expand beyond my natural and the occasional gold patch, and ultimately am out-macroed by an opponent with superior resources and more units. So any tips on how to work on improving it? When I micro small forces like harassing with Mutas or Overseers, I'm fine, it's my macro that sucks.

Always attach important macro things such as queen, hatcheries, creep tumor and use your left hand to just randomly spam hotkeys whenever you get a chance.

Well... when I do this and select something which i've forgotten to do, I quickly do the thing that i am supposed to do with my hotkey selected thing

When in a ZvZ match up you can easily win with sling and bling, you need to lair tech till you notice your opponent is trying to tech up as well. simply run a bunch of sling to your opponents base and wait at the expansion, make like 5 or 6 bling and attack if you have spare bling run them into the mineral line and that should be game, if you keep up the pressure.

A tip is to put your queens in a group, and just press "V" and the area of where you mini map is that should help you spawn more larvae, try to play a game just focuses more on spawning larvae that micro harassing, it will become 2nd nature, then you can go back to your micro. Also its key to expand, one good rule is that if your just about the attack/harass someone lay down an expansion, every time your gonna fight a huge battle. Remember you need to be at least 1 base above your opponent to be able to out produce your opponents. If you have mutas/sling you should be able to prevent them from expanding as well.

Yes this. I find it important to treat each Baneling like its gold! In a ZvZ, with economy being so tight, its important to micro your units to your best. However, if you notice your opponent is transitioning into Roaches, and somehow fend off your early pressure, prepare to bunker up. I would make a good amount of spine crawlers to fend of any roach attacks and tech up to mutas and some roaches to go for the win. If you guys watch Artosis on his livestream, he has pretty good ZvZ.

I have a strategy that I can't wait to try out.
If anyone has done this: Please let me know how it turned out.

So Terran players have been known to use Auto-Turrets in the mineral line. Its a great strategy with little risk. Its a great strategy, but who knew Zerg could abuse it?

After one of the latest patches, Overseers got the ability to spawn Infested Terran. So spawning Terran into the enemies mineral line is a great way for Zergs to disrupt their enemy even more.

Does anyone have any ideas on how this could do?

Too much energy per infested terran. Too little damage output per infested terran. Would require too much of an investment to make enough of them.
You can always do that if your overseers are just sitting around and you aren't using their energy (which you should, on contaminate), but instead of making overseers for that purpose, you're better of researching ventral sacks and dropping blings.

Yeah. I guess your right. And Contaminate sounds awesome. I can't wait to try it out.

    Anyway, thanks for the reply.

The awesome TLO used contaminate beautifully against a Terran opponent in one of his replays. First thing he contaminated a CC to prevent it from landing. Then he contaminated it again when it was becoming a OC so that it was stuck trying to transform for 30 seconds. TLO might be switching to Terran full on from now on, but he is still the random awesomeness.
