There will be at least one mission on Korhal. (I think it's the Train Job mission.)

I will proceed on the assumption that the planet will indeed appear in the campaign. If this is so, then another question begs to be asked:

Where is this planet? The terrans of the Dominion were strNsed convicts only a hundred years prior, so it is doubtful they could grow the population to that size
They could, given they had medical technology more advanced than we did (the primary reason why the world's population didn't increase so quickly) and dozens of empty planets. This is a situation that has never occurred in real life in human history, so of course the growth figures appear higher than we've ever seen.

or build a city that large in so short a time.
Yeah, they can. They terraformed Gohbus so fast it literally fell apart. (Source: StarCraft: Frontline: War-Torn)

I'm inclined to believe that such a planet is controlled by the United Earth Directorate. Could this planet even be earth or another colony controlled by the UED. What do you think?
The UED (except for remnants) will not be appearing in Wings of Liberty. So no.

Uh, I was only aware that it was going to explode. They gave a reason as to why it was devastated? They were too fast in there Terra-forming?

Also, Terrans have built Hemi-sphere covering Space Platforms and large Ring like stations, so its not impossible for them.

Yeah haha . The map is pretty ridiculous .

I believe that if you turn off the music, you can actually hear the distant honking of traffic in chasm areas of the map .

Yeah this map bugs me to no end. First off, it's such an AVERAGE map. 4 players on high ground with a ramp to your expo. Wow awesome. But to top it off there is the sound of traffic in the background, and minerals, gas, and Xel'Naga watchtowers on the tops of Terran skyscrapers.

I would imagine the "convicts" included as many intellectuals and scientists, as well as scum.

Remember, the UPL is a totalitarian tyrannical regime, and the prisoners were imprisoned in a method that is most comparable to the soviety Gulags (Massive roundups of dissendents and "undesirables", which included groups like "hackers/coders" in SC's case and probably including some Proffersors Scientists like in the USSR.)

I would imagine they'd be quite resourceful.

I did some calculations in another thread about terran population, its feasible to have a population of several dozen billion in a 250 year span assuming a birth rate of 5 for the first hundred or so years which is pretty comparable to colonial civilizations, but with very little infant mortality. Life spans have been stated to reach 150+.

Such a large population is technically possible, and I guess it makes sense for the bigger "scope" of SC2, ie: Galactic cataclysm instead of backwater colony conflict.

Never mind the minerals. You're building whole bases, complete with whole Starports (plural!) and interdimensional Gateways, on the rooftops of buildings!!

Now, don't get me wrong. The cityscape tileset is one of the coolest additions to the game. But I really hope the campaign missions that take place on it won't feature base building of any form. I mean... holy nonsensoleum!!
This is something I've definitely been crying out about ever since I saw screenshots man. I wholeheartedly agree.

You know, it's not that much different from the original space platform tileset. There were buildings there too. That's what the doodads for each cliffside were.

Maybe the explanation behind the Xel naga towers is that Xel Naga aint a race.... Its a fast food brand!!!!!!

That turns Xel naga towers into advertisements on top of the skycrappers...

    XEL NAGA BURGERS!!!! OTHERWORLDLY!!!!!!

I think there's a fine line between lore and multiplayer fun. The lore belongs in Single-Player, and I can't wait to see the singleplayer missions and how they treat it there. ( civilians, traffic, <-- saw in previews; the Korhal tileset will be much livelier in singleplayer ) For multiplayer, gameplay comes first - so you're gonna have minerals and Xel'Naga towers on top of massive buildings. Would you rather not have that tileset for multiplayer maps? It's as simple as that.
