Thread: Lore Implications of the multiplayer map "Metalopolis"

Default Lore Implications of the multiplayer map "Metalopolis"

As I have played the beta, one map is aptly named "Metalopolis" and the loading screen shows a planet covered by a city, similar t Coruscant in Star Wars. The city is clearly Terran in origin, so the question begs to be asked:

Will there be a single player campaign that takes place on this super planetary wide city?

I will proceed on the assumption that the planet will indeed appear in the campaign. If this is so, then another question begs to be asked:

Where is this planet? The terrans of the Dominion were strNsed convicts only a hundred years prior, so it is doubtful they could grow the population to that size, or build a city that large in so short a time.

I'm inclined to believe that such a planet is controlled by the United Earth Directorate. Could this planet even be earth or another colony controlled by the UED. What do you think?

The planet is Korhal. It has vespene geysers and minerals on top of a building, which is ridiculous.

Interesting idea. On a related note, I love how the geysers look mechanical on that map. It always bugged me how they looked like rock on the space maps in SC1. The minerals still make no sense, but at least you can say that the vespene is some sort of reserve that you're tapping into.

Never mind the minerals. You're building whole bases, complete with whole Starports (plural!) and interdimensional Gateways, on the rooftops of buildings!!

Now, don't get me wrong. The cityscape tileset is one of the coolest additions to the game. But I really hope the campaign missions that take place on it won't feature base building of any form. I mean... holy nonsensoleum!!

Its Starcraft, it has many areas where it doesn't make sense. This is one of them and its still not bad as Roverlisks and 20 megaton bombs owned by prospectors.

    I lol'ed.

Totally true. Jack Bauer could never stop terrorists from acquiring nuclear weapons in SC 2, they're served like candy at small town cantinas.

Well, they wouldn't be real terrible nukes. The really bad ones are the ones nearing Peta-ton range.
