Meh, I got placed bronze after playing drunk.

Hopefully we can get placed over leagues more easily now and not have to win 200 times with minimal looses and still wait.

I changed races for the reset and played T.
I was placed in gold after 4-1, but then I got a bit frustrated because every time I played against Z I missed them so much^^ For some reason I can't the hang of TvZ/ZvT. Whichever side I'm playing I'm doing something wrong in the matchup.
Now I'm back as Z and since I went back I'm 5-0 and climbing the gold ranks. I hope I'll make it back to Plat like before the reset.

thats how it is Hammy =[ theres always one matchup which is a pain for each race.. The reason I switched from P to Z (I thought I was gonna be P for life before beta, but after 5 games, I am now Z for life lol) but mainly, the fact that PvP is so annoying/proxy wars, I just dont want to deal with that like in BW, zealot harassing probes all game while proxy warpgates. bleh.

I think ZvT/TvZ is pretty balanced though IMO, so least you dont have to worry about one side being totally stronger.

ps: Hammy did you select "Veteran" at the start of your games this time? You'd think 5-0 would put you in platinum.. but guess not =[

I was 1-4...I chose the most difficult of the three starting choices (beginner, veteran, experienced or something like that) and faced 4 plats, so my record was only 1-4...so now I'm in bronze
I was 5th place in Gold before too...sigh

I've still yet to do mine, but in my second matchup I was a Terran and I got distracted for the first minute, so my zerg opponent tried to all-in rush me. Broke his teeth on my wall b/c I kept repairing. Then he rage-quit; it was awesome. ;D

I picked experienced, which was a mistake. But I didn't go 5-0, I went 4-1 since I was playing Terran. It's only after I switched back to Zerg that I went 5-0 (but I was already ranked in gold at that point). I'm 7-0 now in gold as Zerg, it's starting to look good^^

Edit: Actually, about the matchups, I think that ZvT/TvZ is really interesting but I must be doing something wrong.
I really hate ZvZ in SC2 though, and it's not just because of the 2-unit-builds. I loved ZvZ back in BW, but the new mirror just isn't dynamic enough.
The only mirror that has some potential in my opinion is TvT, but the games tend to be a bit too long for my liking.

Haha I love games like that. Like when a protoss void-ray rushes but I anticipated and have some hydra waiting at my cliff. It's so nice to see him leave before our armies even fight...

My games were really stupid. I played four ZvZ. I won 3. My only other match was vs. Protoss, and I lost it. Because, you know, the whole "Zerg suck now" thing Blizzard put in.

Now I'm in Gold division, even though I was in mid-Silver before the wipe.

I picekd experienced and went 4-1 with zerg. iirc i lost to terran after a ratehr sucsesfull helion harass. i got placed in gold, which seems about right for me. not doing to well so far, but im learning some lessons.

í find ZvT hard, although i have learned to fend of helion harass with relative ease; its important not to saturate an expo before you can secure it, at least if you spot a fact with reactor.

i probably need to be more sonistent & continual with baneling production; bane-traps are worth setting up even though tehy are frequently scanned, so i havnt gotten a hit off yet sicne reset.

i also tend to over-commit in my econ-raids vs terran.. i guess i keep diregarding hwo easily an infantery-ball can steamrollyou if you fall behind in army-numbers.
I am an enthusiast of good strategy games, sc2Esports and rollplay, although i dont really play anything atm.
I work an internship at a government agency this fall, and have a good time at it.

So I assume you picked veteran too? I have no clue what came over me when I picked the middle option -...- I think I was just in a hurry to play some 2v2 with my friend or something
I actually picked the middle option - experienced I think it was?
NOt the n00b option, and not the option to the far right that says "I've played competitively for years!"

Lol - I didn't chose that because I've been playing competitively since SC2 beta day 1...that's about it lmao

yea with queen its very easy to over commit with economy, but its also to recover if you see a huge force coming to your base, queen inject larva and you can pop out 10 roaches within seconds to maybe defend it off.

An important lesson I learned in ZvP, is always get a spore in your main at a specific time, to fend off the dreaded phoenix/void ray harassing.. I almost lost 2 games to that, so the next time I played ZvP and my friend (whos a good toss, top of gold last patch) sent over 2 phoenix really early and was surprised to see i already had 2 spores in my main gaurding my ovies. really screwed up his timing, and then I just took the game over in macroing off 3 base (1 gold) until he was forced to attack and lose to my army.

The reason I think zerg is just going to be too strong in SC2, is the same reason they are currently the strongest race in SC1; People are beginning to understand that the way to win games is to just sit back and get the most bases, and with zerg they always had the best expoing ability, but in SC2 they actually have units that can be FEARED and have survivability/crazy damage such as banelings/roaches/hydras.. in SC1 you could run over a whole zerg army in seconds to maybe take out one base before the whole zerg army is rebuilt, but in SC2 zerg still has that mass expo style, but their army isnt as fragile.

I hate to say it, thats a big issue I think we'll see in the longrun once zergs get better. It might take an absolute master like Jaedong to find zergs true potential, but once its found, I think zerg will be unbeatable at a top level.
