I went 1-4. Watching the replays my macro was terrible and I didn't scout enough. At least now I can happily make my away from the bottom (Copper) to the top-ish.

An important lesson I learned in ZvP, is always get a spore in your main at a specific time, to fend off the dreaded phoenix/void ray harassing.. I almost lost 2 games to that, so the next time I played ZvP and my friend (whos a good toss, top of gold last patch) sent over 2 phoenix really early and was surprised to see i already had 2 spores in my main gaurding my ovies. really screwed up his timing, and then I just took the game over in macroing off 3 base (1 gold) until he was forced to attack and lose to my army.

Or just get a hydra den... You should be teching to lair anyways, and hydra pwn.

The reason I think zerg is just going to be too strong in SC2, is the same reason they are currently the strongest race in SC1

I hate to say it, thats a big issue I think we'll see in the longrun once zergs get better. It might take an absolute master like Jaedong to find zergs true potential, but once its found, I think zerg will be unbeatable at a top level.

Using SC1 to illustrate your point is the worst thing you could do. The races are balanced, period. Right now it comes down to map design, but they're tested extensively anyways.
And Jaedong isn't alone on top btw. I disagree with pretty much everything you say concerning SC1^^ (and the Zerg being overpowered once people learn to use them, I think Terran is the least "understood" race right now).

Another thing is that the metagame has changed a lot, and now all races pretty much have to be expansive. And now every starting building also brings some awesome stuff to the player. Sure, none are as fantastic as the larvae system, but having the option to make OC/PF or chronoboost is great too.

I went from copper to near the top of my bronze divison before the wipe. My first placement my partner disappeared after 3 minutes, so I just said fuck it. The next 4 went well, and I got placed in gold! So that's a pretty big jump for me. I picked the total noob option when it asked me.

For my 1's, I was in copper pre wipe, and now I'm in bronze. So good times overall.

I selected experienced and went 5 - 0 in my matches; got placed in platinum league.

One close game vs a zerg in which he had the bigger army but I was constantly dropping 2 medivacs worth of m&ms in his base, destory his queen and a building or 2 then get out before his army came back. He eventually decided he'd try dropping on me, loaded his entire army in some overloads and flew them right over my mmm ball. After losing 3 or 4 ovies stuffed with hydras and having the rest mopped up by tanks he said "How does that even make sense, this is fucking bullshit," then called me a turtler and left.

edit: I was sitting around rank 20 gold league before the reset.

4-1, lost to a zerg that I couldve completely destroyed if I countered after his failed attack instead of expand (and if my zeals didnt get stuck behind my stalkers/sentries...). Placed in gold this time though, silver last time.

darn. I got owned =[ Veteran, 4-1 and placed in Platinum Div 8 (rank 72 or something)

Stupid me, I was dominating this guy, killed his pylons to power his gateways, but immortals took out my roaches and I didnt think he'd counter right away, my mutas were almost out.. but he countered and had 3-4 stalker with him to take out my only popping out 3 muta.. and his immortals finished off my roaches. I really shouldn't of lost that game, played too soft =/

Every other game, pretty easy.. I just need to get better vs protoss, they can be strong in the 5-10 min range with the initial timing push with immortals. I either need to get a quick expo and sunken up abit before my mutas, or just do enough damage early with roaches. Or i dunno.

I have afew good players in this division, like Smuft and Daze, so I better figure out a build instead of just "winging-it" if I wanna be top 8 =[

The placing seems a bit off now.
Especially since the choosing option affects the placement too much.
Its not possible to go to gold platinum, even if you win 5 games, so I've heard. And I think it might be right.

Anyone else can comment on this or test it out?

I placed into gold at 4-1 and I just went with whatever the initial option is.

I think what it does is tries to place you against somebody in each different league if you dont pick anything.

So first round: Copper
Second round: Bronze
Third round: Silver
Fourth round: Gold
Fifth round: Platinum

Maybe if you pick the more advanced ones it skips copper and does Bronze -> Silver -> Gold -> 2x Platinum.

I just see a lot of people in here that went 3-2 and got silver and 4-1 got gold. This may be different for 2's though.

lost all accept from one and ended up in bronze division 15 had some rather close ones tho and the score was very even on many.

and one thing i saw that was abit strange is that most of the players i played against wasent added into a league i cheched their profiles after the games so they where doing placement battles too.
