    During the couple of days i made a couple of tests,and i got shocked when i tested that 20 void rays lost to 10 carriers...the carriers even survived with 2 left...Immortals are the strongest ground unit 1v1,siege tanks deal 100% splash if the targets are close enough,AND the direction from which you are atacking with your tanks,Seeker missiles have a very large AoE in what they deal 100 damage,and even larger one in which they deal 25 damage...

    VR's losing to carriers is pretty sick. mind trying that with different sets of upgrades? :P ... ina fight of 3-3-3 vs 3-3-3 that should benefit VR's allot actually, since interceptors deal 5x2 +1x2 meaning +0 after armor/shield upps , while VR's will get much more than +1 off their attack upp's - esp when 'fully charged'


    what about "the direction you are attacking with your tanks" ? that part didnt seem comprehensive to me.. a re you implying that %-of-full splash dealt depends on how far you are from the tank??
    I am an enthusiast of good strategy games, sc2Esports and rollplay, although i dont really play anything atm.
    I work an internship at a government agency this fall, and have a good time at it.
    I'm being more social, active and honest lately. in all forums.

    Note: works best vs smarter people if you make your gateways closer to there base! and make them at 10 and 11 instead of 12 and 13

    Yes indeed it was 3-3-3,And i think carrier won because they have more range...But VRs compensate by decimating BC's,Thors and Collosi and most of all BUILDINGS....

    The direction of attack probably doesn't matter but rather how targeted units are clumped together-there is probably some kind of a weird 'border' in which it deals 100% splash...

    i think VR's SHOULD beat carriers cost for cost though. else pvp risks becomming carrier vs carrier fiestas in extreme endgames.

    maybe its different in patch 8, afte the VR change; amybe they changed the upgrade-incrments too.

    The ration was 2:1 , i doubt that in any game were are going to see exacly 20 vs 10 with all upgrades,oh yeah and the test was before the patch....So if you see fleet beacon you either go mass stalkers+1-2 guardian shields OR void rays-which will probably have a ratio far more than 2:1...

    So do you guys know any kind of good harassment that can be done with Protoss? I find that DTs, Phoenix and Void Rays require serious tech-switching which will usually screw you over in the end. The only viable harassment I've found which uses tech you probably are already getting is those Warp Prism Immortal/Colossus drops, but those are shut down once your opponent gets any kind of unit that can hit air. Terran have medivac drops + banshees and Zerg has mutalisks, zerglings as well as roaches with burrow.

    The short answer is "not really."

    The long answer is that you can't Blink up cliffs without an Observer or Warp Prism anyway, Colossi and DT are expensive, Phoenix can't even lift buildings and GB isn't worth using on workers.

    Quick Prism warp/drop and Rays are by far the best harassment options for Protoss.

    It so is. Just have your phoenix in position and keep casting it on workers. 3 phoenix one-shot a worker.

    (And why would you want to lift off buildings? Phoenix don't do any damage to them...)

    3 Phoenix is 450/300 + 150/150 for the Stargate. I'd rather get the far more versatile Void Ray.

    Every other unit in the game can win you the game by at least hitting buildings for some damage. The Phoenix is the only unit with an attack which can never win you the game by itself. It just feels... wrong, to me.

    Alright. Hallucinated Phoenix makes Stalker Blink somewhat viable. That doesn't make Phoenix viable.
