That's it, playing PvT means that this happends:
See the red bar? It used to be my army.
Granted, i had my Colossi ill-positioned. But why they can pretty much attack-move any kind of unit, while i have to do everything perfectly, or lose by such a huge margin?
The Colossi cliff-climbing is next to useless, if it needs to be in front of the enemy army to be effective.

Had an interesting game the other day, PvT on Metalopolis. I went my standard build, a Robo Facility (was gonna make a second eventually) with a half-dozen Warp Gates. I saw no detection and decided to try a DT drop, especially since I saw he had taken a high-yield expansion and I was feeling pressured to slow him down. As I flew my Warp Prism over to his base, he attacked in force with Tanks and Marauders. I DT dropped his base an warped in Zealots to help as he attacked and he ended up having to lift off all his buildings to escape. Meanwhile I flew my Warp Prism back into my base, loaded it up with eight Probes fleeing from his army and flew to a new mineral site, setting down a new Nexus before I was revealed.
My Zealots and DTs continued to sweep his base, killing everything as he did the same to my base. I sent my units to the high-yield spot he'd taken and killed it too. By what he himself said was a stupid move, he didn't lift off in time to save his two Orbital Commands and my Zealots and DTs killed them. Now secure in a new base with my DTs and Zealots protecting me, I set up warping in new Gateways and the like (I'd had 1500 minerals on my escape, 400 for a Nexus of course) when his Tanks and Marauders came charging towards me. I set my DTs up along the ramp and they sliced up his forces as they entered my base. I lost all my Zealots but the DTs took out all his forces before they could do any damage (they attacked the buildings of course but didn't destroy any). With my new base up and running and him without any CCs left but lots of unit-producing structures, he called it there. So yeah fun game. Before I spread them out to let him in I had my DTs actively blocking the ramp in a line attacking him as he tried to push up the ramp. A single com-sat sweep earlier could have halted my rush and given him the game, fortunately he didn't and my DTs saved my ass.
Also, another general gameplay question - I have a strong economy these days but I can never spend my resources well enough. I often lose with several thousand minerals in store, and the score screen oftens shows that even though I lost I had mined more resources. So yeah I've developed my economy well enough I think, but I don't spend my resources efficiently, I often lose due to plain being outnumbered because I don't make enough units. Any advice to improve that?

Grats on that. I usually suck largely at economy.
How did you improve it?
You can either make a habit of making anything just to have less than, say, 700 minerals and 500 gas or it's a matter of speed in some things.
But having a lot of resources isn't necessarily a bad thing(at least not for freaken pros). Or maybe you always maintain economy far more superior than you need.

I just keep making workers, not a constantly stream but I often go to my Nexus/CC and queue up three or four workers without even looking to see if I need them. Not a lot of my games in Phase 2 have lasted to the point I need to take more than one expansion, but when I do take it I move over a dozen workers or so then go to both my Nex/CCs and call up for workers rallied to their respective patches.

Make more buildings if you have too many resources. Ever go above 1000 food late game? Spam gateways.
