CB is better spent on Robo/Stargate units and upgrades. Maybe if you have 3 bases and forget to macro you can use them on warpgates or if you need gateway units now.

Anybody have PvZ advice? Especially when you get harassed by zerglings and mutalisks and are forced to one-base while the zerg player macros it up?

You're pretty much limited to keeping the Lings at bay with Sentry FF and getting Phoenix to hit the Mutas.

hmm, best advice i can give for zerglin/muta is if u see him going zerglings, you try going 3 gate and zealot rush him before he gets to spire tech. should be enough if done quick enough. if you find yourself too late, try geting a good decent mix of stalkers, and forge and cannon ur mineral line, etc

Zealots beat lings badly in sc2 its not even close! Also if mutas are out and you don't already have a expand up thats your issue!

Early pressure builds really force the zerg to turtle up, I would reconmend a 1 10gate chrono pressure build.

You get a 10 gate and rally zealots to his base with chrono and harass the expo - you can either add another gate or a forge and build cannons and expand or continue pressure and expand like that.

Just beware of roaches you'll need cannons to stop them - then once you have your choke secured (which happens easily if you build on low ground you can take your expo - prepare for mutas by getting sentry's and you already have your forge, prebuild pylons behind your minerals incase of muta harras.

If the zerg is only on one base there is no reason to be afraid of him, cannon up your minerals and front and make sure you cant die to anything and get a robo scout what hes getting and counter you have the gas advantage. A 2 base zerg is slightly more scary but then its a even game since your on 2 bases.

I see alot of protoss planning there builds to tech to something and attack - Ie. 5 Warpegate push or some sort of immortal push, these things are all in attacks that if they dont work the game is over. I think a protoss player should have there build centered around getting there expo up while forcing the zerg player NOT to make drones and instead units, specially early. People have htis notion that zerg always has more units no matter what time of hte game it is - that is infact false (watch your replays and notice theres alot of times that the zerg player has like 3 units and is just pumping drones while you sit on your bigger army). Alot of times the protoss player can be way ahead in probe counter with constant probe production.

Quite nice I'm getting myself kicked hard in every Zerg match lately, from not-newbies, gotta try that out.

I'm mostly having problems with PvP matches, it seems that my opponent always just outmacroes me, gets big army quickly consisting several immortals, and it feels like I barely even started the match yet.

But taking general advice from Islandsnake, I've started to be more aggressive and it works, at least makes matches more interesting. I quite didn't realize that I should be aggressive even though I've seen so many replays where people are like that and it pays off, instead covering in base thinking "there's no enemy dudimdimdum".

I had an epiphany recently against zerg. If he FE's and you open with a 2 gate zealot push he cant really take advantage of that expo for a while. He has to produce zerglings and crawlers to counter your zealots, which lets you get a bit more of an early eco lead since you can still pump some probes to saturate your resource line while he is using larvae on other units.

If he doesnt FE, you better get a stalker out ASAP.

i saw some cool games lately and wanted to have a go at protoss, among other things i took up on what island just said ( and showed) in doing the early 10 gate crono-boost pressure vs zerg. although i did it on desert oasis, which has a really far walking distance, i obviously pressured my opponent to use many of his first larvas on zerglings, which in turn made him committed to cause some damage to me early. with more experience at blocking ym ramp with zealots & FF, that might have failed more miserably than it did, but even so i was still ahead on econ and applied some pressure with stargate tech; again not causing much direct damage with it, but forcing lots of spores and maybe that extra queen as well as a hydra Den : that alone hurting his already low drone-count...

i proceeded to expand and launch my ground force + support with the 2 phoenix + 1 VR, for a tactically interesting situation.

... previously i didnt see much room for funking the game up as a protoss player, but this was really nice. i just might play random after next reset..!

described game attached; feel free to pick my game apart - im new at playing p, and didnt get much right macrowise beyond churning the probes out at a decent speed - largely cuz i just didnt know when to get what!

.... so to pose a ciouple of general enquiries to the more experienced protoss players: first; what's your general view on games following Stargate as the first tech choice at tier2 (esp vs zerg)?

second: whats the deal wtih earlygame PvP ? im having great sucess with stalker timing pushes out of two gates, opening with just one zealot, attacking with 5-6 stalkers, before the enemy is close to having more thanone Immortal.. ramp can be blocked by FF, but not everyone is great at that. the first immortal is focused down quickly enough by enough stalkers, and zealots / probes get kited ez.. so, have i stumbled upon a good build or am i just having luck with reckless opponents?
    one

    peace.

I've recently stopped playing Beta because there wasn't much to do - few people are willing to play a game with me now and I'm not good enough to get anywhere in my league. I still want to play StarCraft but there is little enjoyment if you know you're going to lose every league match you play unless of course someone disconnects. Anyways, I've been looking for someone who can help me with my Build Orders and learning counters and general strategieis and so forth for at least a few hours a week. Anyone interested?
