You would rather put them in there with a medivac, so you can also do a quick escape and not waste the minerals for a failed try.

And you'd rather have your factory at home incase they try to counter.

Most players are very aware of that spot being a blind spot as well, and will scout it with a pylon, supply depot, or overlord.

Agreed. I have tried cheesing with a hidden rax and factory but it works only very rarely. And you have to be really really quick. Works better with a rax.

Drop ships are the better choice...you can still land them in the vent.

I usually stick a supply depot or turret over there to counter crap like this when I'm playing Metropolis.

I find the no-workers-barracks-refinery-scv-techlab-reaper-bunker rush works well.

As soon as the game starts, mine and then send off a SCV. Do not build any SCVS until your rax/refinery is down.
I proxy the barracks near the base and once it's done building , my scv goes off into their base and beings contruction of a bunker a bit ways off from their mineral line/town hall.
Once they realize, they'll run their probes after you, you halt construction and dance.
Within seconds, your Reaper should come in and start blazing - then finish off the bunker and win.

Works best vs terran, then protoss...maybe zerg if they do not get a queen..but I wouldn't risk this on a zerg player.

It's strange how I either build up my army around the factory units, or I will not use it at all. (using it as a scout) it didn't really happen except for a few times 2v2 where startport where more important :P

It's like either you go all in, or you fold.

Well depending on what your enemy does, this is either true or false. You always want to play using counters to what your opponent is doing. Sometimes this means that if you show them you are going seige, they will go air, and you will just start going vikings and not use your factory.

It all depends of course. You'd never want to go air units if they have corrupters or pheonixes so instead you'd go thors or something.

Use your SCVs to block the zerg while your marines fire behind then though whenever you play zerg you should wall off your base, so if you didn't before do it before he comes back (don't forget to return SCVs to harvesting) and watch out for banelings.

Ok im not sure if this build has been posted here before but its been working really well for me against protoss.

    10 supply depot
    send an scv to scout
    11 rax
build another rax right next to that one as soon as u have 150 minerals
    12
    13
    14
-start pumping out marines out of both rax and start exploring
set your rally point on your marines
-if u know the toss player is weak, move in, u shud have about 4-6 marines with more coming. if your early attack doesnt work, retreat but stay in front of his base.
-keep pumping out scvs, whenever u feel its time, get an orbital command, but dont wait too long.
-start teching up and expanding, the toss player usually hesitates to move out after he sees mass marines. but dont let your guard down!

any comments on this build? i can make a replay if u guys want.
