Thread: M&M to Banshees

I always get two, because I like to close the game as quickly as possible at that point, and the more time those Banshees are building the more time he has to scout and see what I'm up to, or get those pesky Void Rays into my base. A single MT/Overseer/PC might (depending on his army), at that point, be all he needs to nullify my Banshee harass.

    Your mileage may vary.

I think its a pretty bad strategy, may its just me. If the opponent is being beaten badly enough to let you switch to banshees, you could have ended just by continuing MM progression on the same tech tree adding in more synergistic elements like tanks or medivacs.
What do you mean "let" me switch to Banshees? I have a wall up and I have a reasonable defensive force behind it. How is an enemy player expected/supposed to breach that and stop me from going Banshees (which he doesn't even know I'm doing) in tier 2? Unless he happened to have Reapers on hand, or something.

Frankly, I wouldn't feel very confident going after a Speedling Zerg, or a ball of Roaches, or a Speedlot Prot (let alone if he's teching up to Colossi) with nothing but M&M&M.

Well, if your turtling trying to tech to banshees, its almost assuredly going to fail if your opponents scout. The only way you could do it is if you apply hard pressure with MM. If you can simultaneously apply pressure with MM WHILE spending 600/400 on starports and then another 300/200 on banshees, you already won anyway. If you spent that 900/600 on almost anything, you could win. Thats enough to get up a couple ghosts and tanks versus toss, or even more MMM while teching to ravens with hunterseekers versus zerg, both which are less of a risk and harder to counter.

I would suggest that you get an orbital command after your first rax is done. There's a good post about it somewhere or other, but the math breaks down to your first MULE nets you 30~ minerals and each one after that nets you 180 over its life. That can be a huge boost in your ability to get more marines out while you tech. After the first three or so MULEs, you can just step to scanning. I've recently added orbital command around 14~ supply to everything I do with terran because the boost to resources makes a noticeable difference.

Only real drawback is you have to expand a bit sooner (not inconveniently so) because mules obviously destroy your mineral line.

It could also net you the resources to toss up a turret to keep the energy for scans to scouting/offense.

Also remember when doing these kinda aggressive builds its best to stop scvs production around 16(on minerals).

    8/11 Barracks
    11/11 Refinery
11/11 OC, supply depot or another rax
if another rax, supply depot vice versa..
this one is a faster double rax reactor to banshees.

Marines will be at 3:30. and that's quite a pump.

This. I was going to recommend OC at 15 based on your build, but if you can squeeze it in at 14 that aint bad either. Actually you'll be upgrading OC while your tech lab is building. You can delay the supply you get after rax for when you get your next 100mins, since you won't be pumping SCVs out of your CC during upgrade.

Thanks. I've been trying to get it out as early as possible after reading that, and around 14-15 seems to stick. I can't be sure, but it definitely feels like a faster start from then on.

And depend on Marines to carry my aggressive game vs. Stalkers/Roaches/Bunkered Terrans?
