Thanks for testing it.
Seems like for the game, it's really a different attack, even if they put the same dmg and cooldown there.
I find it interesting, as they could make a unit with a different ranged and melee attack, if they wish. If the melee attack were higher, it could be worth to micro closer between attacks, specially if this is put on a unit with a long cooldown on the ranged attack.

Uhhh, how does this affect the roach? The PDD doesn't even stop its regular ranged attack so there isn't a point in moving it close for "melee."I guess they couldn't figure out how to make it work graphically. For the Roach at least this should be really useful micro-wise. Walk up next to the enemy and start meleeing.

I made a thread in the bug submission forum on the bnet beta forums, but I don't know whether it's going to get noticed or not.
Here's that video of me and Islandsnake testing out the theory that the PDD ignores ALL projectile attacks fired at point-blank range and that the Hydra's melee animation doesn't actually have any effect.

As you can see, if the Marauder is any indication, then the theory was wrong - the Hydra is special <3.

I still believe this is the tip of the iceberg.
