This is an interesting read. Garimto, former top Protoss progamer has given an interview to YGosu, and was subsequently posted on TL.net fully translated. He seems to bring out a few good points about the game's balance in TvP, PvZ and Protoss in general, as well as the Mothership.

What do you think about his view of SC2 right now? Do you agree/disagree and why?

That's a very interesting interview.

I don't know if he's saying "buff the Tanks and Hellions" because they really need it, or because he's so used of BW gameplay, however.

Also, I am surprised that testers aren't posting more of their opinons on what they think about what Garimto is saying. Being a former pro, and given the time gap between him leaving the pro-scene and him picking up SC2, do his comments make sense?

I think his point about the PvP matchup is the most prominent thing that stood out for me.

Indeed, if PvP will only be a proxy warp-in fest to just spam zealots and micro that, I don't see a very bright future for the matchup. Currently, there is no real counter to 3 gate proxy warp-in except for spamming zeals out of 3 gateways with chronoboost.

That matchup definitely needs a makeover BIG TIME!


However, I don't get his comments about Terran mid-game. Hellions just need that upgrade to chew on zealots, while EMP take out shields of Immortals and Tanks finish the job. Tanks do shitloads of damage in a mech build. I have seen a progame recently where the Protoss goes for a traditional zealot/Immortal/stalker/sentry and later Colossus army, while Terran pushed with Tanks/Hellions/Turrets and ghost with EMP later on after he took his nat. The metal push was pretty strong. The P player won just because he had more expos, and T didnt scout or attempt to break them while pushing forward with tank/hellions/EMP.

I don't see why T cannot make metal a more viable option; I just think that players are immature to the new matchup right now. Maybe more time is needed...
