And for the record the CB and warp in are the most interesting. They just provide the most interesting choices.

I don't get how CB is an APM sink. It give you so many strategic options... You can save up energy from multiple Nexii to quickly produce a unit for which you've just received tech, or you can improve your army production in general, or get faster upgrades etc...
I think it adds tons of depth to Protoss builds.

This should be true but since you'll probably always end up with 2 nexus and that CB is only 25 energy, you always have to use it. Which is why I believe it's an APM sink. The fix is easy though, all they have to do is make it require more energy or limit it to only one Nexus.

As long as you're building units, its an APM sink. What it needs to be is a channeled ability. So instead of clicking it every 20 seconds, you only click it when you want to change its target. If you're always pumping out Void Rays from a certain Stargate, set CB to "rally" to that Stargate and it'll cast every time it gets enough energy. If you need to get a quick Immortal, reroute to the Immortal, get it cast, then reset to the Stargate en queue.

Archer supports using the ability because he wants to go back to base every 20 seconds because he somehow thinks that looking at your base = macro. Sadly for him you can hotkey CB and target it with the mini-map, making his point/desire m00t. Thus I suggest you all ignore him.

I, on the other hand, believe that no one sane wants to be looking at their base and instead wants to be looking at the action of the game, which usually takes place outside the base. I believe the player should not be required to perform tedious actions at set intervals. I believe that macro can be fun without being static.

I don't mind if they give it to every nexus, but increasing the energy cost would be more convenient. The Orbital command has 200 energy, but the Nexus has 100. Maybe it's because the Protoss are easier to macro in other ways.

This, it is frustrating constantly jumping from where you need to be focusing just so you can keep your unit production and what not sped up.

You define APM sink as something you do a regular intervals. Welcome to RTS games. Also dont tell me you've never delayed casting CB for a few seconds to instead put it on a vital upgrade or unit.

Didnt we already have this discussion when we found out that PC could be cast via minimap. The purpose of macro is to encourage macro style gameplay. The individual mechanics dont have to be completly back to base but the overall playstyle must be base oriented. You can cast CB from outside your base but its much more efficient to use if you have a macro oriented playstyle.

Perhaps we can have macro mechanics that influence battles and the "real action". Maybe all we need for macro is replace the "a" with a "i"

No but in all seriousness your bias (as is mine) in this matter is well recorded. You have to accept that macro players do find the "action of the game" to be base management. Its exciting and engaging. Thats not to say your micro view of the game is inferior, just not for us. You dont see us going around and telling you that watching battles is not real gameplay.

Well I recently played starcraft 2 over at a friends house... and ya I don't know if it was just because I didn't play starcraft 2 enough but I found the macro mechanics to be annoying to have to keep doing

Taken together it feels like all im doing in the zerg base is keeping larva production maximized and little else.
I don't know, the whole prospect of perpetually extending your creep with tumors and carpeting the map using overlords seems very exciting to me. That's something you can do in between larva injections to keep you busy.

Couple that with the diverse strategy brought about by Nydus Worms, and suddenly the Zerg are looking more and more intriguing.

Seems like Protoss actually lack the most macro.

I should say, however, that in general I'm very satisfied with the macro mechanics (from playing at, ahem, a friends house). This is despite me usually being a micro player. In this game I enjoy having extra things to do that involve some strategy and a broader sense of awareness. I'd get bored with only a few options in the game.

Were you a macro player in Starcraft1? If not then your feelings might have more to do with you being a micro player.
