What race do you enjoy macroing the most?

Which race do you feel you have to most fun macroing? What do you like about it? What dont you like about it?


Personally, I LOVE how Terran macros. Calling down MULEs feels very rewarding to the point where I really look forward to my timer being up. Also the ability to immidiatly funnel minerals -> mass units with reactors is a god send. Comsat has allot stronger competition with MULEs then I expected and I am begining to see the usefulness of Calldown Supply. I've had a number of situations when I really was thankful it existed. The choice between more units and better units (reactor vs tech lab) is new and interesting. Switching between addons is a engaging task and feels like meaningful base management.

Zerg. Most flexible, most predictable. Easy to use I guess, but requires strategy to maximize.

Hate terran the most, because it only gives flat mineral gain. Becomes incredibly annoying lategame, little advantage if you use it, considering your probably not lacking filler marines at this point, but at the same time, it feels like your doing something wrong if you don't use. Its simultaneously the easiest to use, but the hardest come lategame.

Toss is ok, but its the only one I tend to forget to use. Because of the way its set up, it isn't occasionally check at your queen/cc every x seconds, it becomes "when you build something, check nexus", which confuses me :P.

My main problem with Zerg macro is that there arnt enough base managment tasks to make macro play as engaging. This is compounded by the fact that they have fewer buildings and pacing manipulation mechanics. Addditionally there supply is unit production based instead of active building construction. Taken together it feels like all im doing in the zerg base is keeping larva production maximized and little else.



The other thing I have against the Zerg macro is that the queens Transfusion appears to see even less use than Calldown Supply. Are other people seeing a similar thing?

Like Spawn Larva, Creep Tumor appears to be a force multiplier since a tumor can generate another tumor. I feel if Spawn Larva was AoE this would make it more of a force multiplier. Then it could compete better with SL and CT.

I actually love that. Its the only macro mechanic thats truely active mining

I have to agree with archer for once, I freaking love the terran macro! The zergs queen is as well - followed by protoss, all of them are pretty close though.

I have to disagree.

Terrans the least, because doing MBS with the Terrans feels the most difficult to me.

With Protoss, "W" selects all Warp Gates.
With Zerg, You can hotkey all your production buildings to 1 key.

With Terran... lets say you select all your barracks', but with different addons. It will only produce units from 1 addon type. So you have to group 6 different army building types.

They could fix this if they make it so when you select all the same buildings, it will produce a unit, regardless of which addon combo you selected. If I select a bunch of barracks', and they have mixed addons, they should all be able to pump out marines. Thats not the case right now, I can only produces out of barracks' with reactors or techlabs, even if they're all selected (they'll appear in the group, but they're not actually selected).

I have to say Protoss is my favorite to Macro, because of the ease to use warpgates. I also like making choices with chrono boost. Spawn larva (while I still like it) - you're always gonna cast it. The choice comes after casting the ability. Maybe you'll cast one or two Creep Tumors, almost never transfusion. I could see Creep Tumor having more use without the Overlords ability to spread creep, or at least adding some drawback.

But to reiterate, my problem isn't the new resource mechanics. I think theyre cool (MULES rock), its the MBS that's different.

I personally find the Queen and Chrono Boost to be the most fun :]. Queen probably more so because I'm a Zerg player . And you know how Zerg have got a slight insect vibe going for them, so it feels very 'Zergy' to have a Queen making larvae :P.

I'd be happy scrapping Chrono Boost and just having Warp-In as the Protoss macro mechanic. Its so fantastic in every way.
