the new lurker pisses me off. had to get that out of my system.
    here's a few pics i found...

(couldn't get the sc1 lurker any bigger, sorry.)

Reason it pisses me off is because it doesn't look half as deadly as the old lurker and Mr. Jack's depiction. It's like they got a fat head on a sausage body with 5 legs. sc1 lurker was like "ima eat your ass off cos I'm a spider", and then sc2 lurker lost it with the plushie look...

Yeah, i realise this is a thread about gameplay, so I'll add my 2 cents worth.
Ok, now, the hydra is no longer tier 1.5, taking its place is the roach. A few pages back, some of you'se people were saying lurkers were too far down the tech tree, being tier 3 due to the hydra's tier 2-ness. So, why doesn't one make the lurker a roach evo rather than hydra? This way, the lurker could be tier 2-2.5, and would also explain lore-ically why the lurker is a burrower (but not why it changes from spitting acid to shooting spikes.) It could be a medium-large unit again, just like sc1 lurker, seeing as everything else has had an upsize apart from a select few units, including he lurker. it used to be about the size of a siege tank, and now it isn't...
    thoughts?

works for me, though its not easily explainable, and really my issue with the lurker is how it plays / fits in with the rest, not when it commes into play or what it evolves from.
I am an enthusiast of good strategy games, sc2Esports and rollplay, although i dont really play anything atm.
I work an internship at a government agency this fall, and have a good time at it.

Eh...making the roach's evolution to lurker is messing up the lore you know.

p/s: I forgot to mention that I'm fine with the lurker missing, there's always the baneling & roach.

That Lurker render is SO out of date. They redid the textures on it like a year ago. Check the video with all the death animations to see a more up to date Lurker model.

That wasn't why the Lurker was tier 3. When they first unveiled the Zerg the Lurker AND Hydralisk were both tier 2. The Lurker was tier 3 because there were a lot of units at tier 2 and not as many at hive-tech.

Uh, meh. I don't really like sticking the Brood Lord as an evolution of the Corruptor into the game. My thoughts on changing something like that are similar.

Neither of those units are really all that much like the Lurker, though. Baneling is as far as being anti-light, I *guess*. But they still work completely differently. Lurker is a solid, lasting unit on the battlefield. It becomes vulnerable when on the move, it's armored... baneling is the total opposite. You burn it up, but you do a HUGE amount of damage as a result. Baneling is also considerably cheaper.

I'd rather have some lurkers then banelings vs Roach+marauders... Its insane hard to pass in tier1

Roaches scare me more than Lurkers, and they feel like a much better unit than the lurker when looking at the entire zerg arsenal. Lurkers were a joke in BW unless you could really pull it off and incorporate destroying their detection. They were more like "annoyances". Some scans, psi storms, siege tanks, air , etc and you'd be fine.

I would rather much see that the roach gain a tier2 or tier3 upgrade which allows them to attack while burrowed and stay concealed. Or a unit rework. They have made the Zergling trivial as a t1 unit bread and butter unit. I find zerglings and banelings almost never used. It feels that , however great the Roach is, it has displaced the t1 and t2 ground units. Hydras are sweet but their mobility is crap when you consider the roaches stealth capabilities+healing potential.

As it stands now, Roaches are the huntresses of StarCraft 2. Highly Mobile, newbs loving massing them, and if you don't know what you're doing - they'll destroy you.

To me, Roaches seem to be an evolution from Lurkers in a artistic sense. Just a bit.

I don't know about that. With the disproportionate quantity of minerals you get in this game, if you're going for a gas-heavy unit (Mutalisks, Corruptors, or just mass Hydralisks off one-base), you can't afford even the 25 gas for a decent Roach army. And you certainly can't afford the Tier 2 burrow-move or movement speed upgrades, let alone the Roach's Tier 3 regen.

That's generally why you see things like Muta/Ling vs. Protoss.

I completly agree here,I though gas was easy to mass up but after played a little is quite a pain in the neck,i sometimes get an early expo only cuz of the gas requirments,
And on the other topic a guy finally realises my point were you need some kind of a AOE(like the lurker) to handle that terran infantry tactics

Yes, that's what the unit needs... four upgrades... on a unit that is already really strong to begin with...

Well, generally zerglings counter what counters the roaches. So the zergling mostly certainly has a place at tier 1.

I just think in general the Roach is far too effective against what counters it. Cost-for-cost they can beat stalkers all too easily. It's preposterously insane.

There's the baneling. Honestly, the if the Lurker were put back into the game, it could be designed to be a good counter for such much more than just terran infantry.
