Thread: Three weeks into beta

  1. #1

    Default Three weeks into beta

It's been almost three weeks into the SC2 beta. Blizz stated it's a 3-4 month beta.
I can't believe how fast this is flying by.

Blizzard is making progress as we see that the number of people online has jumped.

I personally think that there's a little over 3 months of beta left but who knows.

What do you guys all think so far? Are expecting big changes with patches? It seems everyone thinks the game is so balanced/perfected so far, it's pretty encouraging.

I'm not in beta, yet my own experience with everything around it has been great. Streams everywhere and the replays from the first week are all great. I just hope that Blizzard desides to open back replays.

Does anyone realize that the phrase, "time went by slowly..."/"Time flew by" are all about a(the) person(s) perception of how time felt to them? The phrase seems to confuse me because time doesn't go fast nor slow...it goes the same rate every hour, day, year...

As far as contributing in a more meaningful way to your thread, I honestly think it's too soon to know if things are going well or not. They could be desperately thinking about heavily buffing/tweaking a unit/building for all we know.

Yet, give it, say, another month of no BIG changes, and that means they are doing well.

Big changes = need more time to test how it will impact the game. (adding/removing a unit/building/spell - changing a unit/buildings tier)

Small changes = they like where the game is at and are just putting on finishing touches. (changing numbers on build time, hit points, attack ect.)

I don't have access to beta...time pretty much feels like its standing still for me.

I knew the feeling...I got a beta invite* 2 days ago(they simply email you to notify you that they activated your BnetAccount to play Beta) - yet I'm also going to be enjoying FF13 tomorrow as well.

Only reason I'm not playing sc2 atm is I have to go to work in a bit, no need to get hooked in and lose track of time. ;] ( is losing track of time different then time going fast/slow in ones mind?! o.O -)

EDIT: After thinking about it, the only way one can perceive time has gone by slower or faster is to lose track of it first.

When you lose track of time, you believe it should be at a certain point.

    A) when you lost track of time.
    B) where time is at currently(referring to a clock, ect.)
    C) you are unsure of what time it is but believe it to be.

    So
    9:00am-----11:00am--------1:00pm
    A--------------B------------C

In said example above you believe time is much further along then it really is, hence, when you find out it's not, you'll feel time is moving slowly cause it's not up to or past the point you thought it was.

    7:00am-----11:00am-------1:00pm
    A--------------C-------------B

In the second example, you believe time is not quite to a certain point, or think very little has gone by at all. Again, when you find out it is much further along then you assumed, it felt as though time just 'flew by".

I am not in beta unfortunately, but the wait is much easier now that I have an endless supply of videos and commentaries to watch. My mind is now occupied with all the strategic possibilities in the game instead of having nothing to think about other than when beta will start.

Until the mac client is out the weeks will only get slower for me.

The point is if they stick to their guns and have a 3 month beta we're 1/4 done.
