It'd do practically 0 damage in a space battle unless it exploded within like a few metres of another ship, the reason being, that there is no air in space to transmit the concussive force, or much of the heat.

true fact, as science has shown now, space battles would revolve around explosives that are directed (think anti-tank RPG) or direct impact (a bullet). also, individual fighters would probably not even have wings, and be more like a cube. This is because there is no need for wings, as they would just present an extra target.

There's a big chance fighters themselves wouldn't exist outside of orbital battles, reason being, there's no horizon to hide behind, and missiles would exceed them in all performance fields.

They would however have wings if they could be used inside an atmosphere, which is why most small fighters in sci-fi have wings.

I'm sure that if I search around I could find studies that prove that.
Keep in mind her father is a biologist.
Perhaps she got a head start on biology because of that.

Also its not like she knew all the advanced stuff about genetics. She probably knew the basics.

Baneling's damage doesn't come from explosive concussive force. It comes from the volatile acidic substances within it. That's why the death by Baneling animation is being melted by corrosive acid.

That fails to take into consideration the concussive force that knocked the Medic through the wall, which is what did most of the damage.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

Apparently, there is a discrepancy between the writers and what actually happens in game? Seeing marines die of baneling/roach will have them melt if bright green light with a sizzling sound effect, not a explosive one..
