They should paint the unit red line by line, so that half of the unit is red and half green when it's at half health. Very readable. Don't know about aesthetics, however![]()

I miss how zerg units had this thermal scan image, the more damaged the unit was the colder the thermal image appeared it gave a different feel to zerg units even at that aesthetic level

Hmm, they were present in the WII07 release. I guess they went the easy route for beta, that's just sad.

I don't really care either way. I think the current way is far easier to recognize a unit's health. With the original SC system, you kind of had to guess about what health it was at. Either way I'd be fine with. I think the SC (original) system seems a little more high-tech at this point, but the current is the quicker to judge something's health.

I actually always disliked how the Protoss and Terrans displayed in SC1 because it had no real bearing on anything. If the arms of a unit were red it didn't mean jack, they didn't have decreased accuracy or ROF because they took arm damage, it just served to confuse how damaged a unit really was. The Zerg had a better view, but the whole creeping line idea is fantastic, that would be very easy to distinguish quickly.

No1 here is using health bars?? Nothing is easyer than that.

I totally agree. This was by far one of the coolest UI factors in SC1.
It was also the easiest to differentiate between high/low health, a point I want to make since so many of you seem to have such bad eyesight, yes, you, who complain about clutter, physics, creep, gosh you people make me sick. The unit explosions look terrible now, even WarCraft IIIs had more merit. Before your complaints the physics and animation was great. Sure, death animations for orgnanic units are pretty good, especially the Overlords and most Zerg units, but for many of the mechanical units it's just a *poof* and minute pieces flying everywhere. The Battlecruiser had an amazing fall-apart and explosions over its different segments, but in a recent beta video, it looked the same as the Thor's, which atm looks more toyish than anything Hasbro's made. And just as a suggestion, I think either stalkers or immortals, preferrably stalkers, should leak liquid like the dragoons.
As for the Protoss wireframe, I think (I'm not sure if they've removed it) that the shields are actually shown around it.

Well would we want Damagesigns on the Units themselves? For most of them it would just be too cluttered and youŽd just get confused. If any IŽd take a compromise, no red parts allowed until the whole picture is yellow first. Meaning there is no instance of Red and Green at the same time.
