Has anyone out there tried to quickly bring their overlord to the terrans choke point and dumped creep on it to prevent a wall in?
I'm curious if this can be viable on a small map.

I'm sure it can but once the overlord moves or dies the creep will go away and you need lair to creep drop. so if its terran your fighting 1 marine will destroy your plan and if they don't have 1 marine before you reach lair there bad.

Not viable. A single Marine will end that plan.

How long does it take for the creep to disapear?

you need Lair for the overlords to start generating creep, so forget about that thing with the wall in. Creep is generated pretty fast and much faster with more overlords in 1 place.
The creep spot generated by one overlord will expand untill a certain radius is reached (it makes a circle). For a fully expanded creep circle it takes about 20-30 seconds (game time) to disappear. The radius of the creep circle becomes smaller over time starting the moment the overlord stops generating.

Is it viable to use for slowing down expansions, especially the first one? That is, spread the creep and then run when marines come out to set up the expansion but leaving the creep blocking the command center (or nexus)?

No its not worth it lol
You want your overlord behind his natural just in-vision of the minerals so you can see when he starts mining but he cant really see you. Putting your overlord over his expand area wont really delay him at all.

generate creep at enemy base is not really viable because it risks overlord however it is viable to generate creep somewhere in the middle of the map or near enemy base and with a queen lay down 4-8 creeptumors and expand around enemy base or if possible sneak in

The problem is still that you need the lair for this to work. By the time you are that far along the delay from one overlord isn't really going to do much. You'd have to have more than just an overlord. However, an overlord with transport and a queen could certainly cause some trouble. You could place creep tumors at every expansion on the map. Not only would it delay their expansions, but you'd be able to see when they try to attack.

It's better to just burrow a zergling at every expansion.
