    didnt they also say you could add your own models and change the current ones in the game very easy with the new editor?
    I remember something like that when they made a ultralisk with spine crawlers on his back at blizzcon. Well, we wont be able to change the skins for the units in the game already ourselves probably, but i bet blizzard can do this very quickly.

    Would be nice if blizzard could make some achievements that not only gives you portrait, or banners for the buildings, but gives you an option change the look to metallic & other colors. I would love it if protoss had a darker and more metallic building for when you are playing as the dark templars for example.

    The Protoss are indeed shiny and clean but the Terran are industrial metals full of dirt and grunge. The new stuff doesn't look very industrial and that is my main problem with it. Just mix in a bit more of an industrial look with what they already have and it will look extra awesome. Thing about Terran is its shinyness isn't bright and glowing, its dark and metallic.

    Thats just my 2 cents though.

    The only thing missing from the Protoss are those "tiger stripes" (more likely corrosion) that was present on units and buildings in the first game. The Zealot artwork from the first game has them, as does the Dragoon and they're most notable on the Carrier. I wish those would come back, as well as a revised model for the Carrier.

    I do like the art direction they've taken though, but some touch-ups, like you suggested, would do wonders.

    I'm surprised no one has picked up on the side stabilizer/industrial style landing gear I added back in from the original command center that made the orginal look extra cool and unique.

    Also the ramp is thinner like the old one and doesn't look so toy-ish, also added some wires and tubes hanging from the inside of the bay where the ramp is as well as a few other minor details and proportion changes.

    An overall less Tonka Truck look/feel for Terran would be great.

    Well, they should revise their shaders, play around the specular and gloss levels, or with the maps for those shaders. They did that for the zerg , they can do it for the terran.
    And they already have. Compare the current Terrans to the initial reveal.

    Plus, a lot of the detail he added was arbitrary (making shadews darker in some areas and not in others, etc). Actual renderers can't be that arbitrary. Shadows are shadows, and they are as dark as they are.

    What is an "industrial metal?" And how do you fill metals with dirt?

    Terran stuff is generally functional, rather than being pretty or elegant. That doesn't mean that everything should look decapitated, rusted, or covered in filth. Terran buildings aren't shanties built by hobos; they're mass-produced by an industrial, technological society that's trying to make due with what they have.

    If I were given license and freedom to redesign Terran buildings, I would make everything square. Things would be built from pre-fabricated units, and buildings would look something like Lego brick houses. Granted, that might not play well with the gameplay need to differentiate things.

    Then maybe we will be able to get an average graphics designer on the Diablo 3 team to show Blizzard how they can make their enviroments with a simple dark and gray contrast.

    Oh yes, we really need more games that look like that. Almost every damn Unreal Engine game has the exact same shades or gray/brown.

    I like your paint-overs, and I get what you're saying about the Terran units. I only think subtle changes are needed, though, which is why your paint-overs are good. They are subtle.
