The UPL could have gotten rid of alot of people over 200 year period for it to make some sense, but yeah, population in Starcraft is kinda of wopsy.

Also, since one group of Terrans built a space platform over the entire hemisphere of a planet without many people even noticing the planet, yeah, they do have the Industry.

    .
Well the Earth based Terrans are more realistic. They have colonized numerous star systems beyond the Sol,And in the 23rth century the population was 23 bilion on Earth. But once UPL got formed they were centralized and get much advances in space exploration(warp drive, arficial gravity, other stuff). And i'm sure that by the 26th century the UED controls dozens star systems and could probably have +100 bilion population...Now that's realistic ! .Understandable that they lost intereset in the Koprulu Sector They have practicly a whole galaxy to explore

So that planet in the background image on the SC2 main page is Korhal huh. Damn I was hoping it was going be some xel'naga world. And where the source of planets names and info popping up in the wikia? (e.g. Xil, Ulaan, Avenus etc...)

They actually can, go check a global population graphic for the last thousand years and you'll know what I'm talking about, only on earth in a period of 200 years the population increased exponentially, and we're talking just about ONE planet and with the low levels on medical science in previous centuries.
Lore-wise it's entirely possible for several billions of terran to inhabit the Koprulu sector given the technological advances and number of planets at their disposal. I think there was a thread somewhere discussing this same thing.

The video seemed to imply that the outer colonies had billions of people. Hell, Korhal looks like it could easily have two digit billions. It's not 3/4 water like earth, where we have around six billion humans, and is seemingly almost 100% urban.

OMG you kidding me??? Sure the Afros can't keep it in their pants but it took them 60 years to become 1 bilion from 150-200 milion(real example - Africa)....And those Terrans were not milions but a mere 30,000 !!! Now i'm not very good with Math but in 200 years for population of 30 000 to become 'billions' is just more than insane,ALSO before the nuclear barrage on korhal the population was 4 milion, after that was probably thousand or so....That was in 2491 which is what...? 15 years? Come on !!!!

I think the best solution here is to imagine Blizzard forgot to print an extra '000' at the end of the figures in SC1.

Whats on the paper is canon. No matter how much of an imagination you have, you can never get rid of the burned image of Roverlisks on your mind.

Playing a little with math gave me an estimate.
IF we suppose that 20,000 of the 30,000 terrans in the first wave had children, and for the sake of the argument let's say that every couple of them had four children, then let's say what, that these children are going to be having babies of their own at the age of 20 (just for the sake of the argument!) that means that in 200 years you could have roughly 10 generations.
So let's start with 20,000 who have 4 children per couple, that becomes 60,000 now let's take the original parents out of the picture to avoid getting repeated results: 40,000 so now we've got double of the original number in less that what 10 years?
If we stick to the supposition that 20 is the average age to be getting babies (I SAID FOR THE SAKE OF THE ARGUMENT ) after 10 generations we've got 20,480,000 people and that doesn't include the surviving parents from each of the previous generations. According to Starcraft: Ghost NOVA Andrea Tygore leader of one of the ancient families of Tarsonis was 150 so I believe it wouldn't be to far-fetched to think that about half of the six previous generations were still alive. We get a roughly estimate of 40,320,000 people.

I know there are a LOT of IF's in this theory but it shows that there could really be a lot of terran. Although I admit that it seems kind of impossible for the population of Korhal to increase that much in such a short period of time but meh you can always have immigrants
