I dunno if it's Korhal, but it's definitely a Dominion planet.

It's been confirmed as Korhal. The loading screen image is actually named loadingscreen_Korhal.

I guess it could be terraformed or else just fudged over by lights and whatnot, it's a pretty big change from this though.
Or maybe the artist wasn't paying attention to realism, which I had 8 pages of people tell me is the case with blizzard art...
Either way it's a nice looking piece of work, very pretty for a city, if they could build a city the size of a planet in 4 years I guess they could terraform it at least sufficiently to maintain a large city.

To be perfectly fair, SC1 had its limits.
Like what EA did with Tiberium, Blizzard did with SC2. They retconned alot of stuff because the original was old and they didn't do everything they wanted to do with it (heck, it got released 13 years ago), but now they can.
Like how in C&C1, Tiberium was grown out of pods and trees, because of the limited graphics engine...They couldn't fit giant crystals and had no idea what to make for the crystal spawner (a bigger crystal wouldn't have looked well if it only used up 1 square in the game, and 4 was already too much, since maps were usually small back then).
Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

Holy crap...if that's the case, then population and planet retcon indeed.
While they generally do, I think this one is way overboard considering the existing lore, (both written, spoken and visually), discribes it as mainly a desert world.

Maybe it's the Vegas of the Koprula sector? A large city based pretty much exclusively off of a very unconventional economy given the lack of any alternative options.

Overboard or not, Blizzard has sanctioned it (and said so specifically in one of the last two BlizzCon art panels; this information is actually years old). Also, it's been four years in lore terms. Mengsk could have overreacted to the damage to Korhal.
Given what happened to Gohbus (in Frontline), the Dominion certainly has the industrial capacity to remake an entire world.

As i said the lore in starcraft is very poor...I mean in the Wings of Liberty cutsceen when the Zerg attack The reporter says their are 'billions of terran casulties' I mean WTF??? Just 200 years prior this they were a mere 26,000 or 32,000 ??? I didn't know humans can reproduce as fast as a freaking virus????
