Default Ladder Ranking vs Time Zone Inquiries

    Hey Everyone,

So just a brief history on my ladder experience. First as mentioned before this has been my first *real* attempt at some competitive online play in Starcraft. I'm still rather newb, but have learned a lot this past week. I'm slowly getting frustrated with my losses which are all over the place, and oddly I've started doing some analysis between my replays, ranks, and even time of day.

When I completed my 10 game placements, I was put into the Bronze Ladder. Ranked 50. I started playing and eventually worked my way down to 20 over the first couple of days. The third night I went on a losing spree in the 20's ranks and ended up at rank 96 (go me!). I fought my way into the 30's and 40's back and forth which is where I hover. Last night I went on a winning streak played some great games, and ended at Rank 21. Then I went on a losing streak where I got my floor mopped and now I"m sitting around 40 again.

    Here's my thoughts
Rank 50's: I seem to plow through people
Rank 20's: I seem to GET plowed over

    Now the other thing
8:00PM EST time - I'm generally online and doing well
1:30AM EST time - I'm getting tossed around like a rag doll

Is there really that much of a skill difference between the 20-50 range for others? Does anyone else notice time of day = a different class of gamers?

Or is my game just getting worse the more I play during a day lol

    Thoughts?

Playing for extended periods of time really drains you, especially if you're livestreaming as well. I know that I definitely tend to get worse the longer I play in one sitting.

I am livestreaming....is that affecting my game? Generally my losing streaks happen when I am live streaming.

Is that a lag/performance thing. Attention to the chat thing slowing me down maybe?

I like to just blame my 2-3 viewers and let them know I'm losing simply because they're watching lol. Always do good when no one is around to see it right

Zen Masters prefer solitude. I see the reason more clearly now.

Perhaps you can't handle the pressure?

That's only 10:00 pm on the west coast.

Well, at 1PM are you playing a bunch of games in a row against the same people? When there are fewer players on, you're more likely to play against players who are either much higher ranked, or much lower. Losing a game against peolpe who are higher doesn't hurt your stats, while lose against a player who's ranked lower hurts both your morale and your stats

Right. So 1 AM on the East Coast is 10 PM on the west. 3 hours: 12, 11, 10.
