    I've found banshees to be rather cumbersome, tbh. Stalkers will shoot them out of the air, and they're too slow to be microed effectively. Also, their cloak is often useless cuz toss players usually have a few observers with them, although perhaps less so in sc2.

    Well theyre not like battlecruiser slow, but they're not fast either. Given that they only have 140 hp, they tend to be easy to pick off unless u have like 6+ of them - by then, your opponent (and you) could just go for late-game tier 3 air.

    Also, since u need a fusion core to tech cloaking, u essentially can't use banshees for their true purpose til tier 3.

    Of course I've only played about 20 games or so as terran, so I could be wrong - I rarely get so far that I use air units besides medevacs.

    Banshees are pretty good, so are vikings -- I think air is your best bet here since stalkers are usally busy firing at your marines and such. I think the matchup is oging to require alot of scouting and adjusting.

    Im thinking about hellions maybe but they just dissapear in seconds after the fight starts it seems lol


    EMP is going to end up being required I feel, but for me anyway things tend to melt even if they have no shields -- but I will say a well placed emp can really screw him sometimes - keep in mind they have a more mobile force so if you get emp'd as a protoss player it might be best to retreat.

    ... i dont play but still:

    vs plentiful zealots i'd love to see some strongly 'graded helions with marauder support for the slowing effect


    if AoE is such a hassle for the infantry, keep em back a bit? lead with Thors instead? (tactially optimal = FF colossi wh vikings, emp HT's -> send in inf :P) .... it might be far fetched, but for example: if the infantry is too susceptible to storm early in battle, spam auto-turrets up front instead? point defence can soften the blow if he leads with immortals?

    ..lets talk about raven: whats its part in this? they are mostly defensive 'till tier3 upgrade for HSM right? so use that to empower some important defensive positions to maintain a strong enough econ' till t3 then?

    EMP use is clearly important here.. im guessing aiming it effectively and wisely will take some time to get used to; you'll want to identify which part of is army is most of a threat - or which part you can / would like to take ou the most quickly.


    also, if its tricky, get funky with it! get that early tier3 for cloak and / or HSM .... employ funky tactics like actually shooting down OBS to go in and soften the enemy properly with banshee / ghost. even try some funky flanking mid-battle with viking / medivac (+banshee?) covered by raven support (point defence to not get annihilated on approach?)

    Go ahead and try. Banshees do 12x2 damage, while Stalkers only do 6 damage back. A team of 4 Banshees can slaughter Stalkers.

    And cloaking research is on the Tech Lab, not the Fusion Core.

    It dose require a Fusion core though to upgrade it.

    Banshees are great vs ground -- if there's support of course.


    I just played a very long TvT I went mass Banshees with marines and a few tanks vs Marines Tanks and thors and I won pretty easily - its funny how deadly banshee focus fire is vs a thor when you have 20 of them

    Stalkers do bonus vs armored (8+6), so it's 14 vs 24. The stalkers are also cheaper though, and if the banshees retreat the stalkers are faster and have blink. (I'm assuming banshees are armored, I need to check that)

    Of course, pound for pound the banshees should win, but in most situations u would have way more stalkers than banshees, thus evening the fight. It's not too wise to mass too much of an ATG unit that can be easily countered by carriers or VRs.

    No, Banshees are Light. They only take 8 (I got the damage reversed).
