Thread: Planetary Fortress Rush

If he played it cool and tried to build out of range (a planetary fortress cannot lift up after)
He could have mustered up some stuff and then went ahead.

Or Cancel the Cybernetics Core, the Assimilator, the Pylon - and pump a shitload of zealots and start a forge.

That was 300+ Minerals gone to waste. This feels like Ancient of War rush cheese in WC3... lame -_-

I think the best part was when the scv's started mining the protoss player's mineral. Haha.

This was posted on TL by the guy(s) in the game - they weren't playing seriously. This strategy will never be viable... but that's not going to stop me from trying.

I do believe it will be beable at some point, with some twicks.

So, could anyone test the following build for me?

Get a nice choke on your main base with either a Barracks or an Engineering Bay to prevent scouting (but you must have an engineering bay)
Then, lift your main Comand Center and build a Planetary Fortress in the natural expansion of your enemy.
Leave at least 1 SCV at your main so that you can tech safely.
Grade 5/7 tactic: This strategy involves scouting, stealth, perfect timing, midium micro and lesser macro

It was just a matter of luck. As the protoss said, he thought that the CC was going on the island so he wanted to tech up faster... Otherwise, he would have a bunch of zealots and destroyed the Planetary Fortress easily.

The sad thing is the protoss could have just continued mining as normal and put a stalker or two in his mineral line to fight off marines. The PF couldn't reach his whole base.

The placement of the PF was less than ideal, as others have mentioned.

With some tweaking this strategy could catch some lesser players unaware, that's for sure.

If he had landed the CC right beside the Nexus it would have been more ideal. But then again, any fool would just prevent that from happening by putting probes underneath. In fact, this whole plan fails if anyone with the slightest clue just prevents it from landing.
