I've just added a whole bunch of Starcraft 2 beta gameplay videos here for those of you who are interested to see how the beta game plays. Check them out.

The source is the announcement by Rob Pardo at Blizzcon 2008. That was initial announcment that SC2 would be in 3 parts. 1 standalone and 2 expansion sets. Rob Pardo did say that the 2 later instalments would play like stand-alone products, but would require the preceding part to install the current instalment.

    e.g
If you want to play Legacy of the Void, you will need both SC2:WoL and HotS.
If you want to install HotS, you will need WoL.

So pricing of each instalment but the first would be as an expansion set; WoL would be priced as a standalone.

For official sources, just find the video announcement on YouTube.

You can't buy only Zerg or Protoss, since they're expansions, not single games.

Regardless, all three. Its worth every penny, I plan on playing this game A LOT.

For me, it depends on what each of the new installments bring in terms of content that will decide if I will get them or not.

for me the real question is how many will rip it and how many will end up buying it. And trust me, I've seen just about every game cracked. Normally it would take a lot more than some new units and maps to be an incentive for buying the second and third installment but since we've been waiting for this for so long and everyone wants to see what the story line will be...you better believe they will buy all three. If your just straight out Multiplayer your better off just getting the first game...otherwise some new maps and a handful of units won't be worth the price of $50. A pop.

lol, some1 buying just the Zerg expansion.
Single player campaign is unique in its own way, im pretty sure once you start//finish it, you would want to buy the other 2.
