I have lag spikes often and I use a 3G wireless modem from Verizon Wireless. Blizz rep told me that they might look into to changing the code to support 3G connections. But I never had problems with it in WC3 or prior blizz games, just SC2.

If we're getting technical, when you're referring to lag you should be referring to latency. Lag basically describes a situation where something falls behind where it should be, however it's obviously a term used around SC for latency.
So really, if he has a low framerate, the game lags.![]()

I get quite a bit of delay, actually. Units are nowhere near as responsive as I'd like. I click on them to move, and they sit there for over a second, and THEN the command is acknowledged. There's no loss of framerate for me (only on occassion), but there's a definite delay when I try to issue commands. I can't tell you how frustrating this is when I try to patrol-move (because I basically can't)
.
I'm in Australia but for some reason, I get to play on US servers. I suspect that might be the reason why the game feels so unresponsive. If that's the case though, then it kinda sucks because it means I'll never get to enjoy a lan-smoothness game with my online buddies :[.
Does anybody know of a free video-capturing software for my screen? Soemthing I can use to illustrate how bad the delay is for me? I tried CamStudio, but when I play back the footage, not only does it flicker, but the game becomes jerky to the point of unplayability and the footage is also jerky.

Semantic distinction: historically, lag has only referred to network issues. Talk to Quake players back in the mid-90s, and they would easily tell you the difference between lag and framerate hitches. So really, if he has a low framerate, the game lags.
This use is a corruption of the word, not its actual definition.
