    It's used whenever the Hydralisk or Roach is right next to its target - whether it be unit or building :].

    It's just an animation for when Hydralisks are in melee range of a unit. It still counts as a ranged attack.

    Which attack animation is faster, the melee or the ranged? (obviously ranged rite?)

    They're equally fast. And as for the Hydra - it is OP(freakingly, at least) fast. It's like the adrenalin upgrade for Lings was derived from Hydras in this game.

    Hydralisks are definitely good units, but they aren't OP - they're glass cannons. They only have 10 hp more than their SC1 version. That +25 minerals, +25 gas, and +1 food compared to their SC1 counterpart almost all goes into damage output - they're almost just as frail as before, which means they're still vulnerable to their SC1 counters - area damage.

    If you're going for a mixed force of Zealots and Stalkers, then odds are, the Hydras will win.

    Pure Zealots is cost-effective against Hydras, especially once they have Charge.

    Sentries are also quite decent because of their Guardian Shield and Force Field.

    However, remember that Hydras are Tier 2 tech and all the options I mentioned are Tier 1.5 stuff. This is what you should use to hold off the initial Hydra attack (or even beat it). Zerg had to tech to Tier 2 to get stuff to break through Tier 1.5 Protoss, so you should get tier 2.5 tech to counter - Psi Storm and/or Colossi.

    As a Zerg player, I seem to be running into Psi Storm waaaaaaaaay too often . In some ways, it may be weaker than in SC1, but because units in SC2 clump up so nicely, you can usually hit a LOT more with a single Psi Storm than you could in SC1.

    Try bring up Overlords in fight, and spread Creep before you attack, it is amazing how fast Zerg moves on it, I am pretty sure they can barely hit you with storms if you are fast enough of course!
    Or just make mass of 100+ Banelings like David Kim did in that game and just ignore all things that enemy do to you!
