Question about Idra

I was recently playing SC2, when I ran across a player named IdrA. I recognized the name, and asked him if it was him and he said yes. Does anyone happen to know if that was actually him? He reached 300-400 APM within the first like 10 seconds of the game via probe clicking etc, but then tapered off to a lot lower than that.

He seemed really good, and I got +22 points for beating him (I'm in Gold league and I'm decently sure 22 points means he's significantly higher placed than I am, though I don't know for sure how points are done.)

Overall his average APM was around 100, and mine around 70. I'm assuming because it's SC2 the APMs are a lot lower than in SC, because I used to double that and I'm sure Idra would have a lot higher.

The main reason I'm curious is because I managed to beat him, via holding off a stalker rush and fast teching to collossus.

Just figured someone might have an idea if it was him or not.

Sorry if this comes across as like an "I BEAT IDRA LOLOLOL" I'm just really curious to see if I actually did.

How could anyone possibly know? There can be dozens of people with the name "IdrA," and there's no way to tell them apart without the suffix.

*Shrug* Was hoping there was someway to find out the suffix from a replay or something. There's plenty of features I don't personally know about so I figured it might be worth a shot to ask.

I'm betting it wasn't because:

1. We don't know if IdrA has a key.

2. IdrA usually has the [Media] and CJ Entus tags with his name.

3. You're in gold league. IdrA would not be in gold league.

I'll give you 1 and 2, but 3 is wrong. As a gold league I've faced several people in platinum. I know this because I once fought a team liquid live streamer who's in a platinum division, and if points are done as I think then I've fought several other people who are like him in platinum.

Oh ok, I thought divisions were absolute - e.g. golds would only play golds until they move up or down.

In general it's supposed to be like that, but I'm assuming when they broaden a search because they can't find a player in your division it'll eventually just find any player it can.

*Side note, I do have the replay if anyone wants it, even if it isn't him he was still a very good player and it was a very close match.

**Oh, and if it helps my case any, he did a near perfect split at the start of the game. It almost looked like 6 players grabbed a probe each and told each one to mine.

From my experience if he got 32 points without rested bonus as a gold league, then he opponent was more than likely platinum. At the end of every match you can right click on your opponents name to add them as a friend without knowing their secondary name. I do this a lot to check my opponents rankings and to keep tabs on the other divisions and leagues.

Its perfectly reasonable that he woulnd't be that good at the game -- he still needs to play sc1 like 7-9 hours a day.
