Because it's piracy either way. Places like fileshack make the majority of their business through illegal downloading, so of course they're going to advertise something as hot as the SC2 beta. Doesn't make it legal.

If it's illegal, why wouldn't Blizzard force them to stop hosting the file and advertising it on their site? It's blatantly obvious. If Blizzard cared then I doubt Fileshack would be able to get away with that...we're not talking about somebody posting a video of a TV episode on Megavideo or Youtube here. This is the client for an exclusive beta being uploaded on a major file upload site and being advertised with a huge picture on the front page of said website.

Has Blizzard actually said it is wrong for somebody who does not have access to the beta to download the beta client? There's no question that cracking the beta client to play on B.Net 2 without a legitimate beta key is wrong and against Blizzard's wishes, but can the same be said for merely downloading the client from a non-Blizzard source?

May I point out that this is not actually piracy? The game is not available for purchase yet, no pre-purchase was involved, and therefore no piracy is involved.

Also, downloading the client is good for people to watch replays. Posting a link to the hack for Bnet, however, is clearly off-limits.

I'm just curious as to why the client is off-limits.
