It does not always show your name as Character.Account. In loading screens it just shows Character and if you know someone IRL you can set it so they see your actual real name instead of this Character.Account.

Maybe the Italian Q&A from last week was poorly translated, but it left me with the impression that neither the first or second part of the name was unique, but the combination of the two is unique.
So I could be Pick.SCLegacy and someone else could be Gifted.SCLegacy and yet another person could be Pick.Blizzard? Like an email address, only the complete I.D. needs to be unique.
But now Gifted is saying that the second part of the name is always unique?![]()

Understand, what I have for information may be out of date. But to bring that information forward...
You may be correct. This is why I made it more a discussion with what I understood. I will admit I may be wrong depending on how this specific note is interpretted.Upon first login will be asked to enter a new nickname in the form Nickname.nick (Zhydaris.Blizz, MarioZerg.Clan, etc..). Currently the first part of the nickname is not "unique", so more people can choose MarioZerg, but only one person has the combination MarioZerg.Clan.
His next quote:
In light of them both, both of our ideas could be supported. In fact, the first quote involves him saying the "Currently the first part of the nickname is not "unique"" which is an interesting stipulation that states that another portion WOULD be unique. No no, it has nothing to do with clan name, which will appear in another wayIt is simply two levels of recognition. The first is the generic nickname, which can be a duplicate. The second is an additional identifier.
Let me give an example: You choose ChObO.qualcosa. Guy chooses ChObO.qualcosaltro. The name will be displayed normally Chobo in both cases (loading screens of games, chat games, etc..), The second nickname comes into play only on statistics, chat outside the game, etc.etc. Another totally random example:"Do you know Mario?" "I know several" "Mario, who live on Mar Sara" "Ahhh FAR Mario, yes, I know!"
I know it sounds complicated, but it's easier than it seems![]()
I fear that no matter the discussion, we won't know until we have beta in our own hands.

Your interpretation makes more sense than the Italian Q&A because the second part of the name can be used in other games (Diablo 3 and WoW). My original understanding of the system would not be any good for cross-game communication.
Well, I guess we will know the answer "soon".

ok, something to help consider... right now there is a thread with new posts. They have the following:
PostName: http://forums.battle.net/thread.html...87960&sid=5000
Datth.ats: am I blue?
Wispman.datasian: How bout me?
Datth: Secret account of no extensions.
Something to consider regarding the situation and could contribute to the discussion.

Hm, does this mean it'll be easy enough to rename your "first" name? Or would that require you to delete and create a new character? WoW players might know more about this.
For example, can I go from Hammer.MyClan to Axe.MyClan?

In WoW, you can delete and create a new character.. or you can pay money to rename it in a form called "Character customization".
Now, in our blue posts, we've been informed that smurfing is going to be cracked down on, as the idea is to improve your stats by killing people beneath your skill level.
We also know that they've said in the italian FAQ that your "Secondary identifier" will show up outside of game, such as in "statistics".
Unfortunately, this doesn't lead to any understanding of what to expect regarding SC2 as they can make display name easy to change... or set it up as a character situation.
