Hahah, that's incredible!
(young) Children won't understand as much the importance of 'winning', or defending for that matter. A good idea might be a custom map where he needs to build a certain number of Marines and bring them to a beacon right next to the base. You then give a visual reward, something fun and exciting to play with like a Battle Cruiser, or an Archon (something big and colorful preferably, and perhaps continue on with the "move to this beacon" idea. I'd continue on the notion of "building" and "moving" more so then attacking though.
Eventually throw in a couple of Zerglings to provide a threat, but it'll be tough to make sure he doesn't get frustrated with the quick loss of his units. The goal should be for him to learn how to build a defense to hold off from an attack, and then eventually how to build up a large enough army to take out a sunken colony and a Hatchery.
I'd use plenty of sound effects (extracted using Star Forge from the StarDat.mpq) to provide encouragement and keep it light and playful.
