Hm never did play Tib Dawn or Sun. Didnt get into Kane and GDI until the third installment. Zone trooper= awesome. But before that I was already into RA1 and 2. The third doesnt match up to the first two but it's still fun.

Worked my way through the first GDI campaign in Tiberian Sun over the weekend. This game has so many awful design choices:![]()
I love how almost all units have virtually no site range, and are slow as can be, so scouting takes FOREVER, and you don't get a minimap to work with until you build a radar.
Harvester AI is awful.
GDI has 3-4 units that fire in a line indiscriminately - i.e. imagine if Lurkers dealt friendly fire. You know how much fun maneuvering around that would be?
Almost every mission forces you to kill every single NOD unit and building on the map to finish. Oftimes the cleanup and hunt for that last elusive SAM site takes longer than the rest of the mission combined. Add to that NOD's infuriating base cloaking tech, and no detection beyond that one mobile radar device. AND THEN the mobile radar thing screws up your unit AI and EVA insists on warning you 'Cloaked Unit Detected' EVERY FIVE SECONDS. Add it all up and you're in for good times.
Yet I keep playingGonna start Firestorm soon.

Last I checked all ground units have detection if they get close enough to the stealthed object. It has been awhile since I've played, though, so don't entirely quote me on that.
The campaign missions themselves are pretty horrendous, but the story is quite intriguing. Also, I only played GDI campaign once. I'm a follower of Nod, and have been since the beginning(not that Nod's campaign is a whole lot better...although I liked the one with the downed spaceship of unknown origin)

It's sad because StarCraft battle chest is still continously restocked on the shelf here in Canada and goes for a solid 25$USD.
You can't even find a C&C game if you wanted to, maybe the newest red alert...in the bargin bin..
I've always griefs with C&C simply because they ran at such slow speeds -_- ...
and I played a decent amount of the C&C4 beta. That franchise is nothing but a sinking ship...being raped and milked by EA for one last time.
