Thread: Cosmetic Questions

I hope, down the road, Blizzard gives us the option of possibly using our own decals in place of the default options. Obviously, Blizzard would have to put in place some type of standard approval process (can't have little marines running around with genitalia decals on their shoulder pads...and there are idiots out there who would do stuff like that). I'm not sure Blizzard would or could go through all the trouble though to manage such an approval process. It could end up being a heck of lot of work.

Maybe they could periodically hold design contests instead. Three or four times a year.

The possibility of being able to truly personalize your army would be cool and helpful. And it would be even better for the pros who, I bet, would really value being easily recognized by their own unique emblem. Brand recognition is a powerful tool.

Yeah I agree with the Hydralisk statement about the current attack animation. I really do hope Blizzard tends to this. While I do think it is really cool that hydras melee now, they really do need to scrap the dry-humping-the-air-while-spitting-toe-nails-at-things.

Also, the blue lasers that come from the stalker / phoenix look pretty crappy. They should make them differ from each other and also make them look a bit more devastating.

On a positive note, I love how the colossi attack now. The side to center with the 2 beams really gives it that siege damage look that it needed to really fill the role of the reaver.

The Psi storm really looks nice and I cannot wait to blanket people inside of it.

The building animations look great and all of the unit death animations are well thought up. (Especially the burning ones)

All in all I think they have the visuals like 99% there. Just a few corny animations, and little tidbit changes, and we should be fine.
Guess its not a good day to be a bad guy huh skank!?

I also agree Hydra attack animation looks horrible.

Stalker and Phoenix really need a prettier attack animation. It looks far too feeble. I wouldn't mind the Scout's Anti Matter missiles on the Wraith, or something like it. The Blue smoke looked Protoss-y :P

Cosmetically, I hope they improve the Terran a bit. The designs of their buildings along with the over-use of the color yellow is still giving them a plastic toy-like surface appearance.

The hydra animation was better in BW imo, there was acid spiting in the direction of the target and we don't even see the spine. So it look like it goes very very fast. Now the attack is like a physically impossible 60km/h arrow going totally horizontal, it really suck.

    Hydralisks don't spit acid.

I find the juxtaposition of these statements confusing. So going faster than one can see is OK, but going slow enough that you can see is "physically impossible."

Color distribution will be entirely random, just as it was in the prior matchmaking system in WC3. There is no way, to my knowledge, to impose a system that allows a person to choose color prior to searching. It would conflict with the thousand others choosing their own colors.

Imagine the complication the color distribution would become when it becomes larger team games. This is just as bad as the idea someone said of having conditions set whereby "If the enemy is protoss, it picks terran for me... If the enemy is Zerg, it picks Protoss....etc" These conditional scenarios people provide seem to omit the extreme variables that exist when multiple people are factored in.

    I agree. Was just wondering.

CnC 3 actually let u select a "preferred" color, and you would default to that unless your opponent was the same color, in which case...I think it randomed your color, or something.
