So I spoke to my wife and confinced her I couldn't put anything together that was reliable and decent for less than $1000. That's still includes the operating system but I can at least squeeze some better parts.
Thanks for the help guys.

With that card It puts me right at $1008.91 minus shipping. I'll squeeze the $8.00 in with shipping.

If you could ferret another 50 dollars out of your wife I'd say go with the 5870 instead.

lol - i'd say he's already well over the "SC2 on highest" threshold... would it be that much of an improvement?
Also... i'm looking to do SOMETHING with my current build - what should i upgrade? (i might just get a new mobo/cpu/ram)
PSU: Dynex 400 Watt
CPU: Athlon x2 3800+ (2.0ghz)
Mobo:Biostar GeForce 6100-M9 (FSB 900mhz i think)
Ram: 2.75 GB of PC3200
GPU: geforce 9600GSO (384mb GDDR3)
HDD: WD Caviar Green 1TB 5400 RPM
Optical Drive: NONE! (FTW)

Well I'd love to have that card I can't pull another $50 out of anywhere. I already have to give up my paintball budget for the next 6 months for this computer and I can't really give up anything else as I don't have anything else to give up.
