I have a noobie non-hardware question:
I recently got a win7 backup dvd (student discount) intended for an upgrade, but the upgrade would have required reformatting my current computer anyway. If I decide to build a computer, could I just use the backup dvd to install windows, or is there a separate installation dvd that's required?

If it's an upgrade dvd and it won't allow you to get W7 without XP, then just reinstall XP and then upgrade.

I have a strong urge to build a super rig again, I have been tossing around the idea of building a computer into a mini fridge and or freezer for sometime now, hmmm I wonder if I could pull this off.

had that idea myself a few times. I think the biggest problem is keeping the condensation away from your lovely little electronic parts. I think somebody pulled it off, but I don't remember where I read it.
@imdrunkontea : With WinXP upgrades they usually wanted you to insert the old CD you were upgrading from. Since I have yet to do a Win 7 upgrade (I just do the full-blown new install) I can't answer that one just yet. I'll look into it.

Condensation wouldnt be a problem as long as the temperature stays stable so as long as you keep it cold shouldn't be a issue, hmm wonder if I can gather some junk parts from work see how highly overclocked I can get it in my freezer.

Agreed, sorry I missed that earlier post. For that price you're better off finding other pre-made machines or building it yourself (which is the method I always recommend). If there are those uncomfortable building their computer, I have often considered doing a quick video explanation of it, although I'm sure there are plenty of those out there.

Maximum PC has a very good article on it in there PDF Archives, makes putting together a computer laughably easy.
I'll figure out witch one it is in and get back to you.

Unless the computer parts are cheaper in the "already build one" which is really hard to find, you should buy parts separately
