Anybody have some useful tips for the actual building of the machine?

    Like:
    "test as you build"
"Start with the power supply, then the... etc."

Not that those two necciserally are correct, they are just examples. I am just asking if there are some handy tips and tricks to make it more easy.

Scientists measure a second as the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods
of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine
levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom.
Or the duration of 9,192,631,770 matches where David Kim crushes you head to head in StarCraft 2

I was wondering more about tips and tricks to do when you get and unbox said harware, and you are about to put it together in your tower. Like, what to look out for, etc.

Haha, then I can ask about that aswell. My brother helped me build the first "base" of my computer so I don't really got any idea on how it works.

So how does a motherboard work? Are they only compitable with a certian processor?
What are the difference with certian "sockets".

every chipset supports a diffrent type of CPU's
    same goes for the socket

1156 socket supports i7-8xx, i5-xxx, i3-xxx CPU's and they only work with the P55 chipsets, DDR3 dual channel memory
1366 socket supports i7-9xx CPU's and it's only dedicated for the X58 chipset

AM3 socket is a diffrent story, it supports from the older Phenoms II up to the new thubans (6core - yet if you won't update the bios or tweak few things you will have 2 cores locked)
and there is alot of diffrent chipsets for it, 785GS. 790GFX, 890FX, 890GFX and many others
Phenoms II work even with the older AM2+ socket
s775 socket works with alot of Intel CPU's
from single core Pentium 4 up to Q2CXtreme support and there is alot of diffrent chipsets for it
    x48, 780sli, 750sli, 790SLIi and many others
