Oh and btw EvilGenius, 450 watt is not a good idea for a gaming PC, you may want at least a 500.

I already built my system, and PSU calc on newegg said 400 watts is fine. (this was assuming full-load on a phenom II x4 - I'm using a phenom x3)

People tend to high-ball their PSU specs too. I haven't ever crashed because of my PSU.

Guys, I dont want to make a new thread but I know this almost derails the thread...but I figure its okay since this is a long ass thread.


Can anyone offer "Step by steps" for overclocking an i7 920 on an ASUS P6T-SE motherboard using DDR3 1600 MHZ ram ? (my exact ram is http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...=275&Itemid=67
I have installed a case fan and a V8 Cooler master and now my i7 idles at 28C on almost all 4 cores. Ive also ran Prime 95 for 8 hours and it peaked (at stock 2.67 speeds with Intel Turbo on) at 58-60C.

Ive looked at many sites but it's confusing, and I used to be an AMD guy - so having this "low voltage requirement or your CPU will explode" thing is uhh...confusing to say the least.

All I did back in the day with my AMD 2500 was change the multiplier and clock the frequency and slap on a giant after-market cooler.
