Stats don't matter at all but, in this case, the most important limit is right in front of you. It has a 128-bit memory interface. That's terrible. If that were 512-bit, it would perform similar to a HD 5850.

If you don't believe me in what I'm saying then just check benchmarks. I don't know why you haven't done that already

If you want to go big and you have the money get an ATI HD 5970. It is by far the best card on the market. But only get it if you are willing to spend $650 for it and have a good cooling case. http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...-overview.aspx
If not get what spychi says ATI 5850 or 5870.

    that is not the case
if the bus memory interface would be that important, than the GTX285 should be alot better than the 5870 which is not happening

I don't see a reason to buy a GTX card right now, unless you want to buy a overpriced product, with high TDP and higher heat levels
the GTX285 costs almost the same as the HD5870 but it doesn't have DX11 support, it doesn't perform that well, it has an old bigger die size

Ok so I updated my BIOS as the tech guy from GGbyte said
it works! he explained that windows 7 was messing things with the power saver and it was the cause of freezing, mainly the CPU and memory
so I guess that mobo's have issues with the win 7 64bit cause i saw alot of threads like these
you should do the same mikill

Hm, I am still leaning at getting a Nvidia GTX 260. It might not be in the nearest month though. So the choise might change along with the price. (I got all options based on nvidia already and it will fell more secure etc.)

I really would not recommend it
if you want a good GPU buy or the HD 5850 or the HD5770

I've had lots of people saying otherwise, so what are your arguments that I should NOT get the nvidia gtx 260 over HD 5770? (they seem almost evenly priced)

So what are the arguments -stat- wise and what are the arguments -function- wise. It would be better with a "pros and cons" if possible. Since all I see is numbers when I compare them I got no idea what the number does. Also what about heat and size and that stuff.

    GTX260
    bigger die size=higher TDP=hotter
    DX10 only
medium performance for such price and for 100$ more you get a HD 5850 which outperforms it completly
    DDR3
    448bit memory bus

    HD5770
over 50$ cheaper, performance wise a little less than the GTX260
    smaller die size=smaller TDP=cooler
    DX11
    GDDR5
    128bit memory bus

    review and test

but the other factor is your CPU, it really depends cause if you are going for an i7 or PhenomII/Thuban you are always set for bettter GPU's
CPU nowadays limit the power of the GPU
games like Battlefield BC2, Far Cry 2, Crysis and for example Resident Evil 5 are more GPU hungry
