Unless you want to do some major tweaking just using the out of box voltage is best. And at most you want to lower it because of how the voltage/power relationship is. Spychi's suggestion works well because by lowering the voltage and increasing the MHz the overall heat remains constant so little chance of overheating. If Spychi would have left the voltage the same it will probably still work, but eventually could easily burn out. About the whole 1.5148v thing though, thats perfectly fine and perfectly normal. That is just the normal +/- thing when working with electronics. Nothing is ever perfect with electronics and that small of a differential is within normal bounds.

Ya sorry about that Drake I realized i had a weird way of saying it but just flat out get a new computer is better and easier. With how old the one that you have now sounds upgrading it could be a pain by possibly not having the new cpu sockets or a pcie x2 port either. If you are going to get one anyway, get what you want now from scratch and enjoy it for much longer.

Intel core i7 930 - 299.99 - X58 chipset motherboard supports this CPU and they are a bit more expensive, add to that triple channel memory which is also a bit more expensive, higher TDP than the i7-860 on 130W level while the i7-860 TDP is 95W, the frequency is the same same as the OC
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition - 224.99 not the fastest Phenom II, yet the most popular AMD CPU, after the release of 965BE which is faster and has a bigger OC potential the older one got less popular, AMD mobo's are cheaper than intel ones

as from me, it's a new series of fast 6 core CPU's from AMD cheaper from Intel's i7-980X yet in gaming they are obviously slower than the intel's six cores, but AMD's thubans are more likely to fight on the market with the i7 4 cores like the i7-945, i7-920, i7-930, i7-875, i7-870, i7-860
those six cores require 890GFX, 890FX and so on - chipsets from the AM3 socket motherboards
soo far the best thing to do is to buy the high end motherboards from Gigabyte or Asus

Thanks for the info. How would you compare the 1090T to the i7 875k unlocked (not sure what the unlocked means) provided they are the same price.

This computer will be stressed by gaming only.

the AMD is a bit faster and when the 6core is OC'ed on the same level as the intel 875k the diffrence is getting a bit bigger

I want to be able to run starcraft 2 at a bit better then just medium (I got some customoptions, but it's basicly medium)

Currently I got the nvidia geforce 9400 gt. And I would like to stick to the nvidia geforce series. But the problem is that I don't really know which graphic card to buy since I don't really want to buy the most costly.....

Maybe it could be something else that is slowing it down. But I got amd phenom quadcore 2.3 ghz proccesor so I thought that wasn't the case (or is it?)
Also 2x2 gb ram. (running windows xp)

From what i've read, SC2 seems to be a very CPU heavy game.

I have a Radeon HD 5870, a Core 2 Duo E8400 ( 3.00GHZ ) CPU and 4 gigs of ram.

I get FPS drops when running on ultra, but atm. i'm running with everything on high and with my shadows disabled. I get 60+ FPS no matter what.

I would not recommend nVidia right now
what is the exact spec of your RIG?
the game likes more MHz and it's also multicore friendly, so I guess that a AMD CPU like the new thuban or the Phenom II would do

there was a price drop at ATI and starting from mid segments like the 5750 there is no point of buying a nVidia GPU
also if he is pointing at the GTX465 for example than I would completly not recommend that move as it is overpriced like the whole GTX4xx series
GTX285 or GTX275 would also be a bad idea as for the same price you get a 5850
