Yeah, you might want to get a new case with better airflow. My current favorite is the Antec Twelve Hundred, but there are tons of cases out there with awesome airflow.

If it runs that hot either your airflow is bad, or your room is hot, or something is wrong lol.

If he has airflow problems he could always build it into a milk crate...or a mini fridge like I did one time.

Ok, yes my case only has a small fan. Thanks for the suggestions and even though a mini fridge computer would be cool, I will just find a good ExtATX at a local retailer. I hope that will solve the prob. *crosses fingers*

Hey guys, I've been looking to build a computer for a while now, especially for the arrival of SC2.

My first question is, are barebone kits worth it? I may be able to build a computer, but I'm not too confident in myself.
So anyway, if you guys can find the parts for me, I would be exceptionally grateful.

    Additional notes:
I've heard that the AMD Phenom II Processor is considered a good deal. If so, I'd prefer to get one of those.

No less than 4GB memory, I don't think I will need more either.

My spending limit is around $800, maybe up to $900. Over 1k is out of the question.

    Thanks again! =)

    Gigabyte 890FXA UD5 179$
    that Thuban 1055T for 205$
    Noctua NH-U12P SE2 80$ cpu cooler
    G.Skill Ripjaws for 115$
Cooler Master CM690 Advanced version 85$
    OCZ ModXtreme 600W bronze 79$

which is 745$ without the GPU
    + 5770 for about 170 you get 915$
without the HDD, so you must add from 50 to 75$ to it

or same build but with the cheaper motherboard
    Gigabyte 890GPA UD3H ~135$

Thank you for the quick response =)

Right after this post, I did some quick research on GPUs.
I was actually thinking about the 5770, mainly because of D11.
However, I also took a look at the 4850, which is a little over $100.
It's quite a bit cheaper, and doesn't perform too poorly.

It's nice that you posted a link for the motherboard, but truthfully, I don't know the slightest thing about motherboards. Only that they must be compatible with the parts.

    And unless I'm mistaken, I don't see a Processor?

    Thuban AMD's six core 1055T
I don't want to buy the 4850, the 5xxx series GPU is what you want

5770 is worth and I already made a build for a friend from blizzforums.com
    he is happy with it

    Hmm.. Ok thanks.
And the Gigabyte 890GPA UD3H is compatible with all these parts?

Also, is a six-core truly necessary?

Okay, I REALLY need your guys' help on this one... my computer pretty much cannot run SCII. It's making me SO mad. I don't have a lot of money, but I was looking into upgrading some things, just so I can run it (it doesn't even have to be pretty, just RUN THE DAMN GAME.).

    Currently, it's a laptop, Dell Inspiron 1420
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo CPU T7100 @1.80 Ghz
Graphics Card Model: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
    Graphics Card Driver: IGDUMD32.DLL
2 gigs of ram, plenty of room on hard drive

I don't know what to do, I lag out of EVERY GAME, even when the server and my connection are fine...

What can I upgrade cheaply to make the game playable!??! THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
    You're AWESOME. =)
