So now the Protoss have no energy or shield recharging ability.

    Keeps getting better

Yeah, that's a shame. I rather miss the shield battery, even though it saw limited use in the game. What's worse is the fact that Protoss defenses have received no significant improvements whatsoever in SC2, while both of the other races have received several (increased bunkers, submerged depots, sensor tower, mobile crawlers).

    Whaaaaa? :O

Mothership + warp-in offers insane defensive mobility. There's no longer any such thing as an undefended protoss expansion.

(ok, maybe if it has no pylons)

So... a Nexus could use the ability on a Forge to research an upgrade faster?

I assume there is a range limitation? Would have to be sure to put the buildings you want to speed up near the Nexus? Would create advantages to having tech buildings at expansions so multiple Nexus time warps can be used at the same time?

    Need more details!!

Dude, the Mothership is so late in the game that I hardly consider it a defense measure. Nor is that the case for any units for that matter. I'm referring specifically to static defenses.

I suppose warp-in could be considered a defensive measure in that you can instantly deploy troops to a beleaguered area.

I would much rather have a diminished need for static defense instead of better static defense. Not to mention static defense is inherently weaker due to new mobility from stalker/colossus/reaper.

In SC1 protoss are forced to sink money into cannons at almost every non-natural expansion because of mobility issues. Warp-in is a huge improvement on this.

Edit: Also I see no reason to get excited about the new sunken colony (it's mobility is extremely limited), and terran static defense (no more spider mines, bunkers require a supply investment).

Hey guess what. You can have both. You know like where you choose whether to invest time/resources in a mobile army or fortify certain positions.

Frankly I think SC2 has gone a little too "mobile crazy". Im hoping people will realize what this means to gameplay when Beta comes around.

True, true. I suppose with the added versatility of warp-in it almost obsoletes the use of cannon, if not for their innate detection. You can instantly deploy troops at any position being threatened, assuming you have enough resources and quick enough reaction time.

I really see a lot of choice in this compared to proton charge.

build my forge or tech building at expo so they upgrade faster or keep them in main base safe. Just that, multiplied by the number of researching building protoss have add a lot of deepness. And maybe someone can invest in a nexus at the back of the base near upgrade building just to speed them up. 400min for a lot of speeded upgrade can be cost effective.

The way I see it, protoss are fine as is. It's cool that they are trying something new and different, but I think arguing about whether or not zerg are UP is a lot more interesting than arguing over the macro mechanics and the obelisk. I hope we can get a battle report or footage of zerg owning even though the guys at TL think spawn larva is OP. Chances are David Kim will get nerfed before blizzard shows him owning as Zerg!

Still, time warp sounds fun and its possible they will be able to implement it without much trouble since protoss are the most developed race in sc2.
