Except that the BL doesn't have arms. The wing support structures are the two braces that extend from the back end of the main body up to the front of the wings. These are not arms. Certainly not in the sense that Mutalisk wings are arms.

The front of the BL's wings are not arms. They are not bones with joints. They're just flesh. Look at how the BL flaps.

How about they look almost exactly the same.

*sigh* The evidence comes from past precedent courtesy of the other Zerg units/buildings that don't arise from similar-looking predecessors (especially buildings).

The Brood Lord evolves from the Corruptor because Blizzard said so (last we heard). That past precedent shows that one does not have to look like something to evolve into it (the order determined by some other factor) makes this decision all the more acceptable. Seriously, the people who create the lore have spoken on the matter. Until they change their mind (and let's face it, it won't be for scientific reasons), that's simply the way it is.
