The "rage fest" is simply passionate people just wanting to play the game. And as much as we can appreciate them, and as much as we can apologize, and as much as we can ask them to just hold on because it'll all be worth it... there's really nothing that can be done to satisfy it except give them the game to play. And so sometimes you have to know when to shut up and just let actions speak for themselves.

No one will remember that it was late, only that it was a great game. And we will absolutely do whatever is necessary to make sure Diablo III is a great game, just as we are with StarCraft II.
    Just thought Id post this.

    Community Management 101:
Give people what you can when you can. It's their choice to freak out.

I do have to disagree with him on one point though.
The Starcraft community could've and should've been managed much better.

Not to further spark any issues, but just an aside:

No one will remember that it was late, only that it was a great game.
Actually, they will. Everybody remembers HL2 was late, even if it WAS a great game (one of the greatest). Everybody remembers TF2 was late, even if it WAS a great game (one of the greatest).

What makes Blizzard think people won't remember it was late?

But I am quite positive about one thing: we'll remember it was late, but like the Valve games listed above, we won't care because it will be awesome.

People remember it was late, but that's not what it was remembered for.

It depends what they expected. Its very easy to get yourself so hyped up that the game simply wont reach your expectations no matter what, but I'm basically expecting StarCraft on steroids. Nevertheless, it will be a very polished and high quality game, that I'm certain of. Thats why I try not to come here too much, nor am I too upset to not get in the beta. I want to be a little surprised at least.

And I know I'm late to the 'gift' discussion, but Archer's sig reminded me of 1000. 1000 days after the announcement day of StarCraft II is February 12th. Has anyone suggested this yet?

Yes, and it's nothing to get your hopes up about. Have you ever seen someone celebrate a 1000 day anniversary? If you want to try to make random dates significant then you should also know War3 beta started on February 3rd.
